HTC has launched two new smartphones in India in its Desire series dubbed as Desire 12 and Desire 12+. Both the new devices come with an 18:9 display and feature a liquid-surface design with a glossy back. Apart from that, they are mostly different in terms of specs and features.
While the HTC Desire 12 comes with a MediaTek processor, single rear camera and Android Nougat, the Desire 12 Plus is powered by a Snapdragon processor, comes with the dual rear camera and runs on Android Oreo. To recall, HTC had announced these latest mid-range Desire series phones back in March. Now, the HTC Desire 12 devices will go on sale in India online as well as offline from June 11.
HTC Desire 12 Specifications
The HTC desire features a 5.5-inch HD+ (1440 × 720 pixels) 2.5D curved glass display with 18:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by a 1.5GHz Quad-Core MediaTek MT6739 processor with PowerVR Rogue GE8100 GPU. It packs 3GB RAM and 32GB storage which is expandable up to 2TB.
For optics, it sports a 13MP rear camera with LED Flash, f/2.2 aperture, PDAF, BSI sensor, and 1080p video recording. There is a 5MP front-facing camera with f/2.4 aperture.
The dual SIM phone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with HTC Sense UI on top. Connectivity options are 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4 & 5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS + GLONASS. It packs a 2,730mAh battery. Dimensions of the phone are 148.5 x 70.8 x 8.2 mm and it weighs 137g.
HTC Desire 12+ Specifications
The HTC Desire 12+ sports a 6-inch HD+ (1440 × 720 pixels) 2.5D curved glass display with 18:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by a 1.8GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 450 processor with Adreno 506 GPU, 3GB RAM and 32GB storage which is expandable up to 2TB. It runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with HTC Sense UI on top.
In the camera department, it sports a dual camera setup at the back. The dual camera setup consists of a 13MP primary camera with LED Flash, f/2.2 aperture, PDAF, BSI sensor, alongside a secondary 2MP camera. Up front, there is an 8MP camera with f/2.0 aperture, BSI sensor, and LED flash.
The dual SIM phone has Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4 & 5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS + GLONASS as connectivity features. Powering the phone is a 2,965mAh battery. Dimension wise the phone measures 158.2 x 76.6 x 8.4 mm and weighs 157.5g. It also sports a back mounted fingerprint sensor.
Price and Availability
The HTC Desire 12 and Desire 12+ are priced in India at Rs. 15,800 and Rs. 19,790 respectively. Both the smartphones come in Cool Black and Warm Silver colors. The devices will be available for pre-order via HTC online store from tomorrow June 7 and will go on sale through online and offline channels starting from June 11.
