MediaTek released the new Helio P70 chipset which is an upgraded version of the Helio P60 earlier this week. Now, Oppo’s sub-brand Realme is going to be the first one to use this new chipset for its upcoming phone.
At IMC 2018, Realme confirmed that its next smartphone would be powered by the Helio P70 and it could be launched this year itself. This is in line with MediaTek’s announcement that the first handsets with the new P70 chipset will hit the shelves next month.
MediaTek announced the latest edition in its P-series, Helio P70 as the successor to Helio P60 that was launched earlier this year at MWC. The octa-core Helio P70 is based on 12nm FinFET process and boasts of enhanced AI features. It comes with upgraded camera features, gaming performance, and connectivity features.
The P70 has been built for the mid-range smartphones, which suggests that Realme’s upcoming smartphone will also be priced just like its other handsets. The second gen of Realme phones used Qualcomm’s chipsets. The Snapdragon 450 powers Realme 2 and Realme C1 and Snapdragon 660 gets into Realme 2 Pro.
Realme India CEO, Madhav Seth said that the new smartphone will not be a successor to the Realme 2 or Realme 2 Pro. Rather it will be a different device and it is most probably could be Realme 3. They plan to launch it by the first half of December 2018.
There are no other details about the upcoming Realme smartphone is known yet apart from the processor it will get under the hood. We will update you when more details about the smartphone surface.
