Ahead of the launch, we spent some time with the new OnePlus 7T and here are first impressions about it. Also, we give you a quick review of the device as well as answer some of your queries here. Read on to know more.

OnePlus 7T First Impressions

Design: Gorilla Glass body

The new OnePlus 7T comes with a taller form factor and looks cool as it is designed very well despite the big display. The device weighs 190 gm which is heavier than OnePlus 7 on papers but is lighter to hold because of the perfectly balanced design.

On the front, OnePlus kept the same look form OnePlus 7 and the bezels above and below the screen are the thinnest. There is a slight curve on either side of the back panel which also the 7T is a great phone to hold in one hand and you can carry it around easily.

Coming to the finish on the back, there is a Frosted Glass finish just like the new iPhones. The frosted glass gives it an attractive look and I love this finish, particularly in the Glacier Blue color variant which I have been using.

Display: 90Hz Fluid AMOLED

The display panel on OnePlus 7T is 6.55-inch in size and comes with 2400 x 1080 resolution. It has a taller 20:9 aspect ratio which means it offers more screen space. Next, the screen is having the 90Hz refresh rate just like the OnePlus 7 Pro.

With this 90Hz feature, the transitions look smoother. However, there are not enough apps and games that support a higher refresh rate. So, what you can feel good about with this feature is a slightly smoother video viewing experience.

Videos look good in landscape mode and this tall display is also good for reading as there is more content available on the screen. Moreover, it also comes with Video enhancer, Reading and Night modes.  Daylight visibility is also quite good.

Processor: Snapdragon 855+

Under the hood, it gets the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ processor paired with 8GB of RAM. This chipset has the same Kryo 485 CPU cores and Adreno 640 GPU as the SD 855.

Although, the clock speed of the highest performing core (Kryo 485 Gold) has been boosted to 2.96GHz and the GPU clock speed has also been increased by 15 percent.

However, you will hardly feel any difference between the two in normal day to day usage. Only the benchmark scores will tell you a difference and that’s not so important for everyday users.

The next important thing on the phone is the UFS 3.0 storage which is really fast in terms of data read and write speeds. Overall, the OnePlus 7T performs like a true flagship phone.

Software: Android 10

OnePlus 7T comes with the latest Android 10 based OxygenOS 10. This gives the OnePlus 7T an extra point. The latest Android, as well as Oxygen OS, brings stability, privacy, security, and battery life improvements, and optimizations.

Cameras: 48MP Triple Camera

The triple rear camera setup gets a 48MP main camera with Sony IMX586 sensor, f/1.6 aperture, and OIS. The second camera is a 16MP wide-angle lens offering a 117-degree field of view and the third camera is a 12MP telephoto lens for 2x optical zoom.

The pictures taken in the daytime and good lighting conditions are well detailed and crisp.

The low light photos are also good, but you would like to switch to the Nightscape Mode in such condition. This mode brightens up pictures and colors still look vivid.

The telephoto camera also shoots detailed images even with the 2x zoom.

The wide-angle camera can also shoot 2.5 macro close-up shots.

One thing to be noted here that by default this camera still clicks 12-megapixel photos and you need to switch to the Pro Mode to utilize 48-megapixel mode.

The 16MP front camera is still the same as we have seen on OnePlus 7 series. It clicks good selfies that are worth uploading on social media.

Battery: WARP Charge 30T Support

The OnePlus 7T comes with a 3800 mAh battery. This comes with Warp Charge 30T support. It is the new fast-charging tech from OnePlus which is 18 percent faster than previous Warp Charge 30. This can charge the OnePlus 7T’s battery from 0 to 70 percent in just 30 minutes.
