Read WhatsApp Status Privately
If you do not want to let others know that you have seen their status, we’d recommend you to turn off read receipts. This will not only prevent others from knowing that you’ve seen his/her status but also will not let them know that you have seen their messages as well.
Note: This feature works vice-versa. So, you also won’t be able to see if they’ve seen yours.
Turn off WhatsApp read receipts:
- Open WhatsApp on your smartphone.
- Now, tap the three dots menu on the top right corner.
- Click on Settings>Account > Privacy.
- Navigate to the Read Receipts option and switch off the toggle to disable the feature.
Now, you can see the WhatsApp status of others and they will not be able to know it.
However, if you turn off read receipts, you should also hide your last seen as well. Otherwise, people would check your last seen and find it rude that you haven’t even bothered to check their status.
Hide your last seen:
- Open WhatsApp on your phone.
- Tap on the three-dot menu and head to the Settings.
- Click on the Account and then Privacy section.
- Now, tap on Last Seen and select ‘Nobody.’
That’s it. You can now go ahead and check the status of all those people without letting them know and leaving them answered as well.
