Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra First Impressions

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has released and this smartphone came out to be the same thing as last year. But the price is not the only thing which has been upgraded, almost every feature has been upgraded. The smartphone has a better camera, a better display, and a better design.

The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G is priced at Rs. 1,04,990 for the 256GB variant, let’s see if Galaxy Note 20 Ultra should be your next flagship.

Design and Form Factor: It’s a Samsung!

Samsung always makes its flagship devices and eye candy and the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is no exception. The smartphone comes with an amazing bronze color, with frosted rear glass. The other color is a glassy one, you only get the frosted finish on the bronze one. The glossy back also looks good with the black color. This is the first smartphone to sport the latest Gorilla Glass Victus on the front and the rear.

If you are not a fan of the camera module budge and especially not an asymmetrical one then you may get disappointed. Otherwise, the Galaxy Note 20 is as big as you imagined it to be, despite the massive-ness, the smartphone is 208 grams and is only 8.1mm thick. The smartphone is also IP68 dust and water-resistant as you can expect from a flagship smartphone.

Display: Most Color Accurate Display

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra comes with a massive 6.9 inches QHD+ display which looks gorgeous with superslim bezels around it. The bezels on the top and the bottom has been shrunk compared to last year. The display tech Samsung used here is Super AMOLED 2X, this is the same display tech Samsung used in the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra.

This display is one of the most color-accurate smartphone display ever built. The display also comes with a 120Hz refresh rate for the smooth experience. The touch response time also has reduced, Samsung may have used this to reduce the latency to 9ms on the new S-Pen.

Performance: Why Samsung?

One thing which Samsung disappoints us with is the overall performance. Samsung always keeps the Snapdragon edition flagship for the US only, the global version comes with the Exynos processor. Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is no exception, the US got the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ and we got the Exynos 990 processor.

Both the processors are built on the 7nm+ process and are very capable but one thing in which Exynos disappoints is gaming and heating. The Snapdragon created much less heat than the Exynos processors while gaming especially. The smartphone comes with up to 12GB RAM and up to 512GB UFS 3.1 storage.

S-Pen: Got better!

Samsung has upgraded the S-Pen a bit and this time they focused on the right thing, lowering the latency. Samsung has lowered the latency on S-Pen to 9ms which is the same as the Apple Pencil 2 which is bigger than S-Pen in comparison. The placement of the S-Pen cavity has shifted to the far left from the far right side on the bottom edge.

Other than that, the S-Pen comes with all those features which it has on last year’s Galaxy Note. The S-Pen now matches the color of the device now, this is one thing which Samsung should have kept the same as last year.

Camera: 100X to 50X?

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra comes with a triple camera setup at the back which includes a 108MP sensor as the main sensor. A 12MP sensor has been included which is capable of 5X optical zoom and up to 50X hybrid zoom. Both sensors come with OIS and PDAF for shake-free stills and videos.

The third sensor is a 12MP ultrawide sensor for 120degree wide pictures at the same time. The front-facing shooter is a 10MP sensor that is capable of shooting 4K videos at up to 60fps. The rear camera is capable of up to 8K video recording at 24fps and 4K at up to 60fps.

Battery and Charging

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra comes with a massive 4500 mAh battery which comes with 25 Watt fast charging support. It comes with fast wireless charging and it can reverse wireless charge at 9 Watt. Samsung should up their charging game in flagship smartphones, we are seeing up to 100-watt chargers while Samsung has still stuck on 25watts.

Conclusion

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is a really great-power-packed-beautiful flagship smartphone. You should go for it if you want all things premium in an “Android” smartphone.
