Stop SMS Alerts and Associated Charges for Paytm Wallet and Bank

For starters, Paytm charges Rs. 10 per quarter as SMS charges applicable for credit below Rs. 500 for the bank, credit below Rs. 500 for wallet and debit below Rs. 50 for the wallet (full charges on Paytm website).

While the charges are quite low and wouldn’t matter for most, many people still get annoyed by the SMS alerts for Paytm wallet and Payments bank transactions. These messages pile up to be a huge mess, especially if you make too many payments throughout the day.

To disable SMS alerts and the SMS charges in the Paytm app:

  1. Open the Paytm app on your phone.
  2. Click on your profile photo at the top left corner.
  3. Select Settings from the available options.
  4. Now, scroll down to the bottom and click on Notification Settings.
  5. Disable the toggle for “Enable SMS Notification for Wallet and Bank payments” under Wallet and Bank payment updates.

That’s it. Paytm will no longer send you SMS alerts for wallet and bank payments. Furthermore, it’ll no longer charge you the quarterly SMS charges.

Physical Debit Card Charges

Paytm also charges Rs. 150 for the physical Rupay debit card yearly from the date of activation. If you don’t find yourself using the card, you can permanently block it and settle with a free virtual debit card instead.

They have recently started issuing virtual VISA debit cards, which are actually better than the RuPay version. Here’s how you can get Paytm Visa international debit card for free. Once you get issued a Visa card, your Rupay card will automatically be blocked.
