Ways to Block Spam Messages on Google Messages

You must have seen such spam messages within the Google Messages app, on your Android phone. I have experienced them too, the worst part is such messages don’t require your SIM card to be active, yeah you read that right. Even if you removed your SIM card, still these spam messages won’t stop, unless you disconnect the internet of your phone. There are two solutions for this problem, let’s have a look at them.

Block These Spam Messages
One easy way to deal with such spam messages is to block them. You can block such messages, by following these steps:
- Launch Google Messages on your phone
- Open the spam message
- Tap on 3 dots at the top right
- Click on Block and Report Spam
Disable Chat Features
The easy way can help you tackle a few spam messages, as you will get tired of blocking messages, but they won’t stop. In such a situation, you can go the hard way, and disable the chat features. This is take away features like Read Receipts, Typing Indicator, and more. But this can stop these spam messages once and for all, here’s how to disable chat features.
- Launch Google Messages on your phone
- Click on 3 dots at the top right
- Go to settings > Click on Chat features > Disable the toggle for Chat features

If you don’t want to do any of the above two methods, then you can use some alternative messaging app, like Microsoft SMS Organizer, Signal, etc.
