Tips to Keep Phone Safe from Overheating

Tweak Some Settings on Your Phone

First of all, you should tweak some settings on your phone to stop it from heating. The phone’s display puts a lot of stress on the battery and makes it hot. So to avoid overheating, set the brightness to the lowest level possible.

You can also turn off mobile data when you’re not using the phone. If it’s possible, put your phone into airplane mode if you don’t need to take calls and all. You can also turn off other connectivity features like Bluetooth and WiFi if you’re not using them either. Apart from this, you can also enable adaptive charging from settings. Turning off or enabling these features not only save battery but also keep phone temperature down.

Use Third-party Apps for Overheating Warning

For Android users, there are some third-party apps on the Play Store that give a warning when your phone gets too much hot. You can just download any of these apps and keep your phone safe as well as increase its battery life.

Cooling Master is one such app on Play Store that can give you an alert when the phone’s temperature is too high or even too low. The app is customizable and you can set the alert temperature with sound and animation so it’s visible and audible both. The app also scans your apps and closes the ones that eat battery.

On iPhone, you will get a warning if your device exceeds a certain temperature threshold. Apple offers this feature in-built and you will see a temperature warning screen similar to the following screenshot if your iPhone is hot.

To use your iPhone after this warning, just turn off the phone and move to a cooler environment especially away from direct sunlight. Then allow it to cool down before turning it on again.

Use Phone Coolers

If you are a heavy gamer, there is a more effective way to cool down your phone and you won’t even have to give up your gaming. Yes, that’s right! You can get a dedicated phone cooling fan and attach it to your device. They keep your phone from getting hot while playing graphics-heavy games. Moreover, you can also use them on hot days.

Companies like Realme also make phone coolers for gamers. You can buy a Realme phone cooler on Flipkart. Apart from this, there are several other affordable phone fans available on Amazon. You can check out some of these products here.

Place on Flat Surface While Charging

There is another such tip that you should follow while charging your phone. Always keep your phone on a flat surface and keep it flat facing the screen. This dissipated the heat in a better way and the phone doesn’t get hot while charging.

Other Useful Tips

Do Not Use Phone While Charging

Sometimes you need to do things like playing intense games, editing videos, or streaming some content while plugging it to charge as you’re running out of battery and also can’t leave what you’re doing. Just don’t do that. First, let it charge to a sufficient level and then start using it.

Do Not Keep Phone in Refrigerator

Some people also keep their hot phones in the refrigerator. While this treatment might drop your phone temperature for some time, there is a risk of shaking up your phone’s hardware, either due to moisture inside the fridge or from sudden temperature changes.

Avoid Using in Sunlight for a Longer Period

Just like on a hot day, you don’t want to go out or stay in the sun for a long time, your phone also wants the same. So try to avoid using it in direct sunlight for a longer period as the sun can get it warm faster. Also if you’re at home, don’t leave it by a window where the sun comes and when you’re out, just hide it under your clothes.
