The Delhi Metro Railway Corporation (DMRC) is trying to make your travel experience hassle-free and efficient as the number of daily travelers is increasing rapidly. To improve your ticket booking experience after introducing the app-based QR tickets, you can now book your Delhi metro ticket using the DMRC WhatsApp chatbot. This read will guide you to book your Delhi Metro tickets on WhatsApp.

How to Book a Delhi Metro Ticket from WhatsApp?

Daily travelers are increasing rapidly, with a record-breaking 71 lakh travelers on the fourth of September 2023. DMRC has not introduced an easy way to book tickets via the WhatsApp chatbot.

Method 1 – Book a Delhi Metro Ticket on WhatsApp Mobile

To facilitate a hassle-free and efficient experience, you can book your Delhi Metro tickets via WhatsApp by following these simple steps on your Android or iPhone.

1. You need to start a chat with the DMRC official Chatbot; for this, you can use any of the following:


  • Click this link,
  • Save the chatbot’s number, i.e., +91 9650855800, or
  • Scan this QR code and start a new chat.

2. You must agree to the updated terms and privacy to chat with a WhatsApp business profile.

3. Send a Hi, to initiate the chat.

4. Choose your preferred language between Hindi and English to continue.

5. Using the DMRC chatbot, you can do the following:

  • Buy new ticket(s).
  • Get details about your past journey(s),
  • Retrieve your ticket(s).

6. To book your ticket(s) for your travel in the Delhi Metro, select the Buy Ticket option.

7. Tap the Click Here button to continue. (This link will automatically expire after a few minutes.)

8. On the redirected page, choose between the lines:

  • Airport Line – This is for only the Airport Express line from New Delhi to Dwarka Sector 21.
  • DMRC Line – All other lines except the Airport line.

9. Select the Source and Destination Station from the list and select the number of tickets you want to buy. You can buy up to 6 tickets at once.

10. Tap on Continue to see your ticket summary.

11. You can choose to make the payment using any of the following methods:

  • UPI – No fee is levied for transaction
  • Debit Card – 0.40% is levied as a convenience fee
  • Credit Card – 1.10% is levied as a convenience fee

You will receive a payment link powered by Zaakpay from the DMRC chatbot.

12. Complete the payment to buy yourself a DMRC ticket(s) for your travel.

In the case of UPI, you can pay via WhatsApp or other UPI apps installed on your phone. Once the payment is completed, you will get a QR ticket on your WhatsApp, which can be scanned at the AFC gates to board your metro.

Method 2 – Book a Delhi Metro Ticket on WhatsApp Web

You can also book your travel ticket(s) for Delhi Metro Railway Corporation (DMRC) via the WhatsApp web on your PC, as follows:

1. Start a chat by sending a “Hi.” to the DMRC Chatbot.

2. Select your language and choose to buy a ticket.

3. Select your source, destination stations, and the number of tickets.

4. Complete the payments via Debit/Credit card or UPI.

Once the payment is completed, you will get a QR ticket on your WhatsApp, which can be scanned at the AFC gates to board your metro.

If the payment for your DMRC QR ticket fails, it will take 3 to 5 working days for your refund to arrive.

Q. Why Am I Not Able to Book the Delhi Metro Ticket on WhatsApp?

Using the DMRC WhatsApp chatbot, you can book tickets between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. for all lines and from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. for the Airport Line (Orange Line). Also, you can’t book another QR Ticket unless you exit with your last purchased QR ticket or it has expired after the end of the business day, whichever is earlier.

Q. For How Long Is the Metro QR Code Valid?

The Delhi Metro QR Ticket is valid for:

  • 65 minutes – entry/exit from a different station
  • 30 minutes – entry/exit from the same station

Q. How Can I Exit from the Metro When My Phone Is Dead or Lost with the QR Ticket?

You can transfer the QR ticket to your other phone or someone traveling with you. If you don’t have access to the QR ticket at exit, you will be considered traveling without a ticket, and the protocols will be applied accordingly.
