With every new smartphone release, chargers are getting faster. We have seen chargers that max out at 320 Watts(Still under development). You get a full charge in a matter of minutes. Gone are the days when you used to plug in your device for an hour.
Since most companies have stopped including the charging brick in their packaging, we charge our devices through any charger we can find. Is this really the correct way to charge your device? What if the charger is not right? In this article, I will share how you can identify the best charger for your device.
How Many Watts is Too Many Watts
Charging of a device mainly depends upon two factors. The charging standard of your device and a wall charger or a brick that will fulfill that standard or matches it. The charging standard can be identified from the user manual shipped within the box. The company standard in box brick is the best option to use with your device. It will provide you with the best output aligning with the need of your device.
If you are looking for wall chargers or bricks make sure to get the ones which are multiport and each of those ports support the company standard of your device or at least close to it. Brands like OnePlus , Xiaomi only support hypercharge or SuperVooc charging through their own charging bricks.
How to Check the Charging Power of Your Device
If you are unsure of the charger brick you brought, you can download some apps. These apps can monitor your device’s charging capabilities. Apps like Ampere and AccuBattery can be used to monitor the inflow of charge and voltage.
These apps allow you to monitor the rate of charge and the voltage and then decide if your charger is working well. They also allow you to monitor temperature and battery health. However, you can not see the maximum amount of charge your device can handle.
Which Chargers to Prefer
If you have OnePlus, Oppo, or Xiaomi devices, I suggest getting the first-party charging brick. It works best with these devices. The charging speed is very fast, and there are fewer heating issues.
If you are keen on buying charging bricks from different companies then Anker and Gan chargers are my go to. Gan chargers are energy efficient , environment friendly much durable than your average chargers.
If you are an iPhone user of any series before 15 then you are stuck with lightning port. However in the newer models support wireless charging which can be opted. You can also use any type-c cable with them as well.
