Karbonn has added another smartphone to its Quattro series of smartphones. The company has further expanded its series with the addition of Quattro L52 smartphone, which comes with the company’s all new VR headset. It is a good looking smartphone and comes at INR 8,790 and has decent specs under the hood. We have seen better phones under this price range but this smartphone definitely has something special for the users. It comes packed in a premium looking body which resembles a lot like iPhone 6. Other than this, it is the VR that makes it special for the buyers.

Karbonn Quattro L52 Physical Overview
Karbonn has done a lot of improvement to enhance the looks of the new Quattro L52 smartphone. It comes packed in a sturdy shell which have a metallic feel to it, and looks a lot like iPhone 6 from the sides. The front has 2.5D curved glass to give it a smooth finish at the edges and the curve is continued with the round chamfered edges. Back is made up of plastic but it is given a metal like finish, but the sides are made up of metal and make it feel solid in hand.
The weight and proportions of the handset are good for one handed usage but still a 5 inch display is never easy to cover with one hand in most of the cases.
The front top of the device has the proximity and ambient light sensors, front camera and the speaker grill in between. The display has black borders around, which gives it a bezel less illusion when the display is turned off.
The capacitive navigation keys are at the bottom and they are not backlit.
Volume rocker and power/sleep keys are on the right edge of the L52.
USB 2.0 port for data syncing and charging has been located at the bottom.
3.5mm audio jack is on the top.
Moving to the back side, the primary camera is at the top left coupled with LED flash.
Loudspeaker grill is at the bottom right side.

Quattro L52 User Interface
The Karbonn Quattro L52 comes with Android Lollipop with the touch of Karbonn’s very own Kandy UI on top. It has totally revamped home screen, icons and app drawer. Going to the settings menu, you’ll see some changes if compared to the stock Android. It has some gestures, VR settings and some extra settings also available in the settings menu.
Other than the look and feel of the UI, the UI feels smooth during normal tasks but honestly speaking, I am not a fan of the Kandy UI. There is not a lot to look for in this software but it is decent enough for basic to moderate users.
Quattro L52 Camera Performance
It comes with an 8 MP primary camera and a 5 MP front camera that is pretty common in the phones of this range. As far as the picture quality is concerned, the camera easily focuses on objects in lesser time but the colours are on the darker side. Details were nicely captured but only when the lights were bright. It is a fair setup for this price and it will not disappoint its users. For more details about the camera quality, you can see the picture gallery below.
Quattro L52 Gaming Performance
The Karbonn Quattro L52 comes with a dual-core MT6735P processor clocked at 1.3 GHz and Mali-400 GPU. 2 GB RAM seems good but does not impress while gaming on this phone. I played the usual Dead Trigger 2 on this smartphone and it disappointed me on the very first tap. It took more than usual time to load and then noticed minor lags in the beginning of the game. It was playable in the beginning but later on the game play was sluggish and I could see continuous frame drops.
This phone is surely not for heavy gamers but those who like playing light weight games can surely go for this handset any day. As far as heating is concerned, we did not notice any unusual heating during the play, in fact the temperature rose 2 degrees after 25 minutes of gaming.
I played Dead Trigger 2 for 25 minutes and it consumed 13% of the battery and the temperature rose from 33 degree Celsius to 35 degree Celsius.
Karbonn Quattro L52 Performance and Benchmark Scores
The Karbonn Quattro has a decent set of specifications for the price, but there are much better options if you are looking for a phone that performs the basic tasks with ease. I ran a few benchmarks and used this phone for almost 48 hours, and what I found was a convincing performance for this price.

Karbonn Quattro L52 comes with a totally new approach from the company; it is good looking devices that has a good display and build quality but lacks when it comes to the performance. The reason why this phone is priced over 8K is the bundled VR headset which works perfectly with this phone. So if someone is looking for a phone which can handle all the basic tasks, looks beautiful and offers the VR support then this is the best choice if you are not convinced with the Lenovo K4 Note.
