After rolling out knock-offs  and run-of-the-mill devices for a long time, domestic manufacturers have finally stepped up and are now coming up with more and more innovative devices ever so often. This includes the recently launched Aspire A3, which is a device from domestic manufacturer Lemon. The phone comes with an impressive specs sheet for the price, and packs an innovative feature – 3D display, making it more worthy of your money.

This launch from Lemon will definitely be received in a warm manner by the youth and enthusiasts in the country. Things are shaping up well as far as domestic manufacturing/innovation is concerned, and the launch of this device is only adding to it.

Let us talk about the device per se.

Camera And Internal Storage

The device comes with an 8MP main sensor which sits at the rear of the device. This is a feature we’ve seen in most (if not all) ‘budget’ devices in the country, and the Lemon Aspire A3 is among the pricier ones to feature the 8MP camera. However, the value for money aspect of the device can be realized in other features of the device.

The front camera on the A3 is a 2MP unit, which should serve you well as far as video calls are concerned, however, you might find yourself wanting for more when we’re talking self-portraits.

On the storage front, the device packs a disappointing 4GB ROM. This, again, is a feature seen on most budget devices from India and China. The phone has a microSD slot allowing you to expand storage by up to 32GB.

Processor And Battery

The phone comes with a 1GHz dual core processor. This is indeed a little short of our expectations at the price range of 11k INR, since manufacturers such as XOLO and Micromax are providing quad core processors at the same price. However, the phone’s display is it’s USP, and you will have to sacrifice on other corners for the same.

The 1GHz dual core processor should suffice for most when it comes to casual usage like reading, email, utility, etc. and maybe even casual gaming. However, one plus point with the device is that it comes with 1GB of RAM, which can be considered as above average for a dual core processor.

The battery on this 3D display device is a teeny 1640mAh. You can expect the phone to last you through one work day on an average, and maybe more if you use the phone in a very conservative manner.

Display And Features

This is where it gets interesting with the Aspire A3. The phone comes with a display which is capable of displaying content in 3D, without the need for the user to wear any kind of glasses! This is the same technology we earlier saw in the Micromax Canvas 3D which is now available for quite a bit less.

The 3D-compatible display measure 4.3 inches diagonally and packs a qHD resolution of 960×540 pixels, which means that the phone will have a decent pixel density.

Among other features, the phone supports dual-SIM like most other MediaTek phones, and comes with a slightly out-dated OS in the form of Android 4.0 ICS.

ii. A device from a domestic/Chinese manufacturer with quad core processor

iii. Lemon Aspire A3 3D – dual core processor, 1GB RAM and 3D screen.

As it is, the choice is yours. Most readers would be interested in points ii and iii, and as far as we are concerned, we actually think that the Lemon Aspire A3 makes a very good all-round device with decent RAM, and an innovative screen, although the price could have been about 1000 INR lesser.
