Spice Fire One Firefox Phone Unboxing, Review, Camera, Features and Overview [Video]

Design, Build and Display

From the front side, the phone resembles Intex Cloud Fx in several ways, but has more round and polished corners. The phone feels substantial and sturdy in hand and the rear matte finished back gives a nice grip. Build and Design looks better than Intex Cloud Fx in our opinion.

The display is 3.5 Inches in size with average viewing angles and decent colors. You can browse the web on the display and use it for other basic operations without much botheration.

Processor and RAM

Processor used is 1 GHz Single core processor (Make unknown) aided by 128 MB RAM. It won’t be fare to judge it by Android standards as Firefox OS is more resource efficient. We would have liked to see around 256 MB of RAM on this smartphone, but there wasn’t any lag on the present hardware in our initial time with the device.

Camera and Internal Storage

Imaging hardware is again fairly basic with a 1.3 MP rear shooter and a VGA front camera, but you can find some solace in the presence of LED flash. Imaging hardware is not meant to please photography enthusiasts but at these prices, we are just happy that it’s there. Camera app is fairly simple with a right strip of option and a left strip containing clicked images.

Internal storage is again nothing to brag about with about 70 MB (Out of 256 MB) available at user end. 4 GB MicroSD card storage is permitted, but that can’t be used for Apps.

User Interface and Battery

Interface, which is exactly similar to Intex Cloud Fx, is based on Everething.Me android launcher. Since only one home button is present below the display, you will have to rely on software back button which appears in apps when you need it similar to iOS. The OS groups similar apps together, but folders are not supported. You will require internet connection to open preloaded apps like Facebook and Youtube, there is a third party alternative connect A2 to access WhatsApp. To download apps, you can visit pre installed Mozilla Store.

Battery capacity is 1400 mAh, which sounds decent at these prices. Spice hasn’t given any backup data so it’s hard to judge how long it will translate to in practical scenario.

Conclusion

Spice Fire One Mi Fx1 is an entry level Firefox based smartphone and is quite apt in this regards. The smartphone aims at bringing internet to the masses in developing markets like India, where Internet is still more prominent on Mobile phones rather than desktop. Since several preloaded apps and other features require Internet on Fire One mi Fx1, 3G connectivity will be missed.
