Xolo Q2500 Quick Review, Price and Comparison

If you are looking for an extra large 6 inch phablet priced under 15,000 INR, Xolo has come up with an MT6582 smartphone in its popular Q series dubbed as Xolo Q2500 PocketPad. Xolo has been expanding its Q series portfolio in terms of number and display size for quite some time now. Let’s take a look at detailed specifications of Xolo Q2500.

Camera and Internal Storage

The primary camera has an 8 MP BSI senor which can record 1080p Full HD videos at 30 fps. As MT6582 budget quad core is fast replacing MT6589 series in Indian market, so are the 13 MP units being replaced with 8 MP ones due to chipset limitations.

That’s not really a bad thing and we hope Indian manufacturers will focus on other imaging parameters and improved low light performance to stand apart from the competition. Front camera is also fairly pedestrian with a 2 MP sensor.

As the large display is a priority here, imaging hardware won’t be a deal breaker but the internal storage of only 4 GB might very well be. You can also take advantage of 32 GB microSD storing for storing videos and other content.

Processor and Battery

The processor used is MT6582 quad core chipset clocked at 1.3 GHz. The 2 core GPU is Mali 400 MP2 and inside Xolo Q2500 it is ticking at 500 MHz. The GPU is quite dated, but the chipset has proven to be a decent performer so far. Ram capacity is 1 GB inline with what one expects at this price range.

Xolo has a track record of providing good battery rating. Xolo Q3000 impressed us with its 4000 mAh battery and Xolo Q2500 is armed with a 3000 mAh battery with 4.5 hours of charge time, 600 hours of standby time and 15 hours of talk time on 3G. According to Xolo Video playback time is 5 hours which if true is decent considering the display size.

Display and Other Features

The 6 Inch IPS LCD display supports 5 point multi touch and 720p HD resolution. It also incorporated OGS display technology to further enhance your viewing experience. The pixel density of 245 pixels per inches is usable on a 6 inch display and sharpness will again be decent enough.

The phone supports Dual SIM functionality and runs on Android 4.2 jelly bean operating system. Although the smartphone is eligible for new and fancy Android 4.4 KitKat update, we would hold our breadth on it. Perhaps, if Xolo manages to sell large number of devices, we might see Android 4.4 Kitkat on Xolo Q2500.

Looks and Connectivity

Not much is revealed in the initial images about the looks of Xolo Q2500. The phone is 8.9 mm thick and complete body dimensions are 136 x 64.6 x 8.9 mm. Back cover appears to be glossy and the speaker grill is present at the back of the device. Xolo will bundle a flip cover in the box which can double as a stand.

Connectivity Features include 3G HSPA+, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, USB OTG support and GPS.

Comparison

The Xolo Q2500 will compete against large sized phablets like Micromax Canvas XL, Gionee Gpad 4, Intex Aqua Octa and Xolo’s own Xolo Q2000.
