One of the key competitors of Qualcomm, MediaTek has introduced its new SoC for the mid to entry-level smartphones, the MT6739 and Helio P23. Both these SoCs have been introduced at the ongoing India Mobile Congress 2017 in New Delhi.
The India Mobile Congress is the first of its kind event that is being held in India. It is a 3 day event that began on September 27 at Pragati Maidan and is expected to attract a footfall of over 1,50,000 people. On the first day of the IMC, Mediatek introduced the MT6739 and also launched the Helio P23 in India.
MediaTek MT6739
The MT6739 is designed for the rapidly growing 4G market, which features an advanced WorldMode LTE Cat 4. In addition, it also features dual-camera support, and supports 18:9 display. It also offers a range of new connectivity technologies that include eMBMS, HPUE, and 600MHz LTE frequency.
“Our latest offering in India allows OEMs and ODMs to create 4G-entry smartphones that deliver premium features that provide high-end value at affordable prices,” said Dr. Finbarr Moynihan, General Manager of International Corporate Sales, MediaTek, while commenting on the Indian launch.

In addition to the MT6739, the manufacturer has also introduced its Helio P23 that is evolved to offer supreme camera quality, dual 4G LTE SIM with dual VoLTE/ViLTE and Class-Leading Power Efficiency. Here are the main features of the P23-

With P23, MediaTek brings dual-camera support to the Helio line, that guarantees a superior photography experience. It support for 13 + 13-megapixel dual-camera setups. It is further backed with Imagiq 2.0 technology suite, the chipsets are equipped to minimize aliasing, grain, and noise, reduce chromatic aberration and more that results in clear, crisp, high-quality images for a number of lighting conditions. Further, a new hardware CCU with auto exposure is equipped to speed up to twice as fast as competitors that ensure you will never miss any moment to be captured.
4G Connectivity
The Helio P23 is the world’s first chipset to offer dual SIM, dual 4G VoLTE/ViLTE support. With this, faster and more consistent connectivity can be achieved that will be a great help for the users who use dual SIM cards. It is equipped with MediaTek’s latest generation 4G LTE WorldMode modem technology that offers superior power efficiency and performance. It is further combined with Cat-7/13 that speeds at 300 Mbit/s download and 150Mbit/s for upload. It also highlights the TAS 2.0 (Transmitting Antenna Switching) smart antenna technology further enhances performance and user experience by using the best antenna combination to provide optimal signal quality.

MediaTek has also opened its offices in Bengaluru to improve its reach in the Indian market and has initiated a successful smartphone design training program for Indian talents. The training program is created in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity), India Cellular Association (ICA) and the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), Taiwan. The smartphones equipped with MT6739 and Helio P23 are expected to arrive in the market by the end of this year.
