Moto G6, Moto G6 Plus, Moto G6 Play launched: Price, Specifications, and more

After several leaks and rumors over the past few months, Motorola has finally launched its Moto G6 series at an event in Brazil. The smartphones launched at the event are Moto G6, Moto G6 Plus, and Moto G6 Play. All the three smartphones are already available to purchase in Brazil, while in other countries including India it will be coming in the next couple of months.

The new Moto G6 series phones are packed with the latest features such as 18:9 display, dual camera, Android Oreo 8.0 and a more powerful processor compared to the previous generation. The Moto G6 Plus is the top model of the series with a bigger display, faster processor, and more RAM than the other two. On the other hand, Moto G6 and Moto G6 Play have the same display size and RAM but vary in terms of battery, camera, and processor.

Moto G6 Plus specifications

The Motorola Moto G6 Plus sports a 5.93-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio and FHD+ (1080×2160 pixel) resolution. The dual-SIM (Nano-SIM) smartphone runs on stock Android 8.0 Oreo. The phone is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 630 processor with Adreno 508 GPU and 4GB RAM. It has 64GB of internal storage and microSD support up to 128GB.

In the camera department, there is a dual rear camera setup with a 12MP primary sensor with f/1.7 aperture, and a secondary 5-megapixel sensor having a f/2.2 aperture. Up front, there is an 8-megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture. The camera has dual-tone, dual-lens LED flash on the back, and a selfie flash in front.

Connectivity options on the smartphone include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C, NFC, 3.5mm audio jack. The Moto G6 Plus has a battery capacity of 3200mAh, with support for Motorola’s TurboPower adaptor which is claimed to offer 7 hours of use on a charge of 15 minutes.

Moto G6 Specifications

Moto G6 features a 5.7-inch screen with full-HD+ resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 450 SoC with Adreno 506 GPU and 3GB RAM. It also runs stock Android 8.0 Oreo software and supports dual-SIM.

As for the camera, it also sports a dual rear camera setup with a 12MP primary camera with 76-degree lens and f/1.8 aperture and 5MP secondary camera with 79-degree lens and f/2.2 aperture. Other features include dual-tone, dual-lens flash on the back, along with a single LED flash in front.

The Moto G6 comes with 32GB internal storage with support for expansion up to 128GB. Connectivity options on the smartphone include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, USB Type-C, NFC, 3.5mm earphone jack, and Bluetooth 4.2. The phone packs a 3000mAh battery with Turbocharge support.

Moto G6 Play Specifications

Moto G6 Play sports a 5.7-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio with HD+ (720×1440 pixel) resolution. The dual-SIM (Nano-SIM) also runs Stock Android 8.0 Oreo. The phone is powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core Snapdragon 430, with Adreno 505 GPU and 3GB RAM. It has 32GB internal storage with microSD card support up to 128GB.

In the camera department, it has a single 13-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture and single LED flash on the back. While an 8-megapixel sensor with 80-degree lens and f/2.2 aperture and a similar selfie flash is on the front.

The Moto G6 Play packs a large 4000mAh battery, again with Turbocharge support. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, USB Type-C, and 3.5mm audio jack.

The Moto G6 and Moto G6 Plus sport the fingerprint sensor in the home button while the Moto G6 Play has it embedded in the Moto logo on the back.

Price and availability

The Moto G6 is priced at $249 (roughly Rs. 16,500) while the Moto G6 Play will cost $199 (Rs. 13,000 approx.). As for the top model Moto G6 Plus, it has been priced at EUR 299 (approx. Rs. 24,350). The Moto G6 series price in India or release date is not confirmed yet.
