Chinese smartphone maker Oppo has started teasing the launch of its upcoming ‘F series’ smartphones in Malaysia and India. Oppo F9 and F9 Pro will be the company’s upcoming mid-range smartphones that will come with a new waterdrop notch display like Essential phone and dual rear cameras.
Oppo India has confirmed on its Twitter handle and official website that only the Oppo F9 Pro will be coming to India. The teaser posted on Twitter comes with the tagline “The breaking new vision” and shows the smartphone that suggests the F9 Pro’s highlight is its new notch display and VOOC fast charging.
The latest teaser comes a few days after the Oppo F9 smartphones were spotted on the Bluetooth certification site last week. The Oppo India teaser confirms about the Oppo F9 Pro only and there is no word on the regular Oppo F9 variant if it will also be launched.

Moreover, the Oppo F9 is also teased in Malaysia. As per a teaser posted on the Oppo Mobile Malaysia account, “Get ready to welcome the OPPO F9 with new waterdrop screen, a breaking new vision experience for you!”. This suggests the new notch design.
A drop of rain falls on the leaf will shine they say, but how if it falls on the screen?

The design of both the phones look similar, however, they may vary in size and hardware. The teasers show the F9 and F9 Pro having a display notch that is smaller, rounder and similar to the Essential Phone PH-1.
If we talk about hardware, it was also reported that the Oppo F9 and F9 Pro would feature the same MediaTek Helio P60 SoC which was also used in the Oppo F7. The teaser image also shows a dual rear camera setup instead of a single camera on the Oppo F7.
The teaser image also shows that Oppo F9 Pro will support the company’s proprietary VOOC fast charging which the company claims will charge the phone in 5 minutes to offer 2 hours talk time.
There are not many details around the Oppo F9 and F9 Pro available as of now. We should know the exact specifications and features when some official confirmation comes from Oppo.
