Vivo X21i with notch display, dual camera, 6GB RAM launched: Price, Specs

Vivo has silently launched a new smartphone dubbed as the Vivo X21i in China. It is the cheaper version of the X21 smartphone that was introduced in China back in March. It has the same features as the Vivo X21 except for the hardware. The Vivo X21i will be available in China from May 19 for CNY 2,698.

The Vivo X21i packs the similar 19:9 notch display, and similar dual cameras as the Vivo X21. It also runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with Funtouch OS 4.0, but unlike Vivo X21 this is powered by MediaTek Helio P60 SoC. Also, Vivo X21’s one variant comes with an under-display fingerprint sensor which is expected to be launched in India on May 29. However, this Vivo X21i comes with back mounted fingerprint sensor.

Vivo X21i specifications

The Vivo X21i packs a 6.28-inch FHD+ (2280 × 1080 pixels) 19:9 Super AMOLED display with notch and 90.3% screen-to-body ratio. It has a fingerprint sensor on the back and its dimensions are 154.37×74.98×6.99mm. The phone runs on Funtouch OS 4.0 based on Android 8.1 Oreo.

It is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P60 12nm processor with ARM Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. It comes with two memory options – 6GB RAM with 64GB internal memory, and 4GB RAM with 128GB storage. The storage is expandable up to 256GB with microSD card.


Coming to the camera, it sports a dual rear camera setup with a 12MP primary camera with LED flash, f/1.8 aperture, Dual Pixel technology and a secondary 5MP camera with f/2.4 aperture to capture the depth information. It has a 24MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture. It has AI scene recognition that can automatically detect scenes and supports face unlock that scans 1024 facial features.

Connectivity options on the device include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS. It packs a 3,245mAh battery with support for fast charging. It also supports 3.5mm audio jack and AK4376A Hi-Fi audio chip.

Pricing and Availability

The Vivo X21i is priced at 2698 yuan (Rs. 28,735 approx.) for both the 4GB RAM with 128GB storage and 6GB RAM with 64GB storage versions. It is already available for pre-order in China and goes on sale from May 19.
