Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 expected to launch in India next month

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi may soon begin the explorer program for testing of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 here in India. The program has been there for the previous generations of the Redmi Note series.

Xiaomi has been following the tradition of getting Mi fans from across the country and providing them with the Redmi Note phones before the launch. The explorers complete challenges given to them by the company and perform tasks with the unreleased device. Also, the company has hinted at the launch of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 in India next month.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Expected Specifications

While the phone is yet to come to India, there are expectations that Xiaomi will run the Explorer program for the same. The Mi fan clubs across 20 cities in India are holding meetups with the theme ‘Reminiscing Mi Generation’. Replying a to a tweet by Raju PP,  Xiaomi’s Clinton Jeff has hinted at the possibility of a release date next month, pointing at the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5.

Since the device is not here in India yet, we cannot determine the exact specifications. However, the company introduced the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus in China and it looks like the same phone will succeed the Redmi Note 4 as the Redmi Note 5 here in India.


Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus

To start with the Xiaomi Redmi 5, or the future Redmi Note 5 comes with a 5.99 inch IPS LCD display with full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) resolution. The screen has 18:9 aspect ratio and ~403 ppi pixel density. Optics are handled by a 12MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 5MP front-facing camera with up to 1080p video recording capabilities.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, or the current Redmi 5 Plus is backed by a Snapdragon 625 processor, clocked at 2.0GHz. This processor is coupled with two storage variants i.e. 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB. The device runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat with MIUI 9 skinned on top.
