A couple of months back when Micromax launched its much hyped Canvas 4, Karbonn launched Karbonn Titanium S9 (Quick Review) with similar hardware features and a bigger display size. This phone has similar specifications to recently launched Micromax Canvas Doodle 2 A240 (Quick Review). Let’s compare both these smartphones and help you decide which one is a better option for you.
Display and Processor
Micromax Canvas Doodle 2 Comes with a 5.7 Inch Display with 720p HD resolution. This Display will give you a pixel density of 220 ppi which is above average clarity display. Karbonn Titanium S9 comes with a 5.5 Inch display which a similar 720 P HD resolution, giving you a pixel density of 267 pixels per inches. So which one is better? Well, both are not much different. It’s a tradeoff between slight difference in size over slight difference in clarity and it depends on your taste. Although, under practical consideration, the difference in both cases won’t be much.
As far as processor goes, both these Smartphones feature the same chipset configuration. Both of these phones employ the low cost MediaTek MT6589 Quad core Processor clocked at a frequency of 1.2 GHz based on ARM Cortex A7 Processor along with PowerVR SGX544 GPU clocked at 256 MHz to further assist you with your gaming. This is a good processor and will serve you well with efficient multi tasking and gaming.
Camera and Memory
Both phones are again similar as far as camera and memory feature goes. Doodle 2 has a primary camera of 12 MP and a secondary camera of 5 MP. Karbonn Titanium S9 Comes with a 13 MP primary camera and a 5 MP secondary camera. So Titanium S9 leads by 1 MP which again won’t translate into much of a practical difference.
The memory features are also at par with each other. Both these smartphones come with 16 GB of internal storage and a 1 GB RAM. The 1 GB of RAM would be sufficient for most users. However the internal storage is not expandable in Doodle 2
Battery and Features
Battery capacity of both these phones is same at 2600 mAh. This battery will give you a 2G talk time of about 8 hrs and will carry you through your day with low to moderate usage.
As far as features go Micromax doodle 2 has a clear edge. All the software features from Canvas 4 like much hyped “Blow Air to Unlock”, Smart pause, ‘Proximity answer phone, Proximity dial phone’, Flip to silent, Flip on call for speaker and video pinning are present in Doodle 2 also. It also comes with a stylus which you can use to doodle over its 5.7 Inch Screen and a Flip cover. Though many of these tweeks can be achieved using Android apps, they won’t perform as efficiently in Karbonn Titanium S9. Both phones have dual SIM functionality and come with Android 4.2 Jelly bean Operating system.

Conclusion and Price
Though both phones were launched with a similar price tag, Karbonn Titanium S9 being a couple of months older is available for around Rs.17, 000 approx and Doodle 2 is available for Rs. 18,999. Both these phones feature similar hardware specifications so other factors like Built Quality, software features, and availability and after sales service play a major role in what you opt for, and thus Micromax Canvas Doodle has an edge over Karbonn Titanium S9.
