Two new budget android smartphones will now be part of Idea Cellular Mobile portfolio. The company announced Idea Ultra II and Id 1000 priced at Rs. 12500 and Rs. 5400 resepctively. While the Ultra II will be the company’s first 5.5 inch Phablet, the later is an entry level device with humble spec sheet.
The 5.5 inch IPS LCD display of Idea Ultra II features 960 x 540 pixels rendered on the phablet display by 1.3 GHz Quad core processor (most likely to be MT6582 from MediaTek) coupled with 1 GB RAM and 4 GB internal storage. You could further extend the storage to 32 GB using MicroSD support.
The dual SIM smartphone features an 8 MP sensor at the back coupled with a 2 MP shooter at the front for video calling. Other features include 2500 mAh battery, Android 4.2 jelly bean operating system, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth and GPS.
The Idea Id 1000 on the other hand comes with a 3.5 inch 320 x 480 pixel display with 1 GHz Dual Core processor, 512 MB RAM and expandable 4 GB storage. The software employed is Android 4.2 jelly bean.
2 MP basic shooter is also present for photography. All this modest hardware is powered by 1300 mAh battery. Id 1000 also supports dual SIM and 3G connectivity. Other features include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth and GPS.
Both of these Android smartphones will be available across Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Maharashtra & Goa, MP & Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, UP West and UP East. Considering the price range and specifications Id 1000 features above average in entry level segment, but Idea Ultra II looks like a tough sell.
