These days, almost everyone has a smartphone but the major concern with such handsets is their battery capacity. It is pretty challenging for the smartphone users to find handsets that include superior battery of over 4,000 mAh. However, manufacturers are trying hard to break this concept by announcing phones that come with long lasting batteries. One such phone is the newly unveiled Philips W6618.
The highlight of this Philips smartphone is the mammoth 5,300 mAh battery under its hood. With such a huge battery it is not a surprise that the device will deliver superior backup. As of now, this handset has been launched in China without any word regarding a global launch and it is priced at $273 (approx. Rs 16,500).
Besides housing a huge battery, the Philips W6618 does not boast impressive specifications as the other handsets that fall within the same price range. Well, the handset is fitted with a 5 inch display boasting a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels and it is equipped with a quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor clocked at 1.3 GHz. The device packs 4 GB of internal storage along with expandable memory support and 1 GB of RAM for multi-tasking.
Running on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the Philips W6618 has connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth and dual SIM support. Also on board is an 8 MP primary camera that is coupled with a front-facing 2 MP shooter for video calling. The 5,300 mAh non-removable battery is rated to deliver up to 33 hours of talk time and 1,604 hours (66 days) of standby time.
