A startup technology firm, MoFirst Solutions Pvt Ltd. Founded by three IIT graduates has announced a smartphone dubbed Firstouch A10 in India with a rich feature set including an in-built language translator. As the Indian smartphone market is the third largest one in the world and it is home to over 20 dialects, there is a need to breach this barrier somehow.
With the launch of the Firstouch smartphone, the massive non-English speaking consumers can simply translate the messages in English to their regional language and vice versa with a swipe. The firm has patented a Swipe technology that allows users to do this translation.
The Firstouch A10 is competitively priced at Rs 6,000 that should enable it to reach the consumers even with very tight budget. The only demerit of this smartphone is that it currently supports only Gujarati, however the company has assured that it will support Hindi and Marathi languages by June. Within a year’s time, the handset is believed to support all the Indian dialects.
Talking of specifications, the Firstouch A10 comes fitted with a 4 inch WVGA capacitive touch screen display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and it is fueled by Android 4.2 Jelly Bean platform. Further, there is a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor paired with a low 512 MB of RAM. To meet the storage needs of the consumers, there is 4 GB of default storage space that can be expanded up to 32 GB.
For imaging, the Firstouch A10 houses a 2 MP primary camera with flash and a VGA front-facer for making video calls. Other goodies in the handset include a 1,300 mAh battery and connectivity aspects such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G and GPS with aGPS besides the usual dual SIM feature that is found on the budget smartphones.
Commenting at the launch, Rakesh Deshmukh, CEO, MoFirst Solutions Pvt Ltd said, “Firstouch is the first regional smartphone which brings millions of rural and semi-urban customer a perfect smartphone, made in their language.”
