Cupertino based Apple is been talked by the gossip mongers regarding the iPhone 6, its 2014 flagship model. The firm will be taking the wraps off the next iteration of iPhone in August, which is a month before its usual launch pattern, claims a Taiwan based media report citing anonymous supply chain sources.
According to the Economic Daily News, a 4.7 inch iPhone 6 will hit the retail shelves in August, but there is no information on which markets will receive this large screen iPhone initially. The report did not stop with that as it also claims that a 5.5 inch or a 5.6 inch iPhone will be launched in September. It also suggests that Apple will be producing around 80 million iPhone 6 units this year alone.
Sources close to the supple chain have already confirmed the existence of a 4.7 inch iPhone 6 and a 5.5 inch iPhone model to Reuters.
Market analysts have predicted that Apple will be increasing the iPhone screen size from 4 inch in order to regain the market share that has been lost to challenges including Samsung. Moreover, Android smartphones that are direct rivals to the iPhone come with gigantic displays as they are the ones that the consumers prefer these days and Apple has to be on par with their rivals to keep stay ahead in the race.
However, Apple’s representatives could not be reached to leave their statement regarding the 4.7 inch iPhone 6 and the 5.5 inch model. Also, the representatives of Taiwan based iPhone contract maker Hon Hai Precision Industry Co Ltd and those of smartphone camera lens vendor Largan Precision Co Ltd that are noted in the newspaper report have not left any comment on this topic.
