Alcatel One Touch Idol X+ Quick Review, Price and Comparison

We have seen the launch of couple of Android devices from Alcatel in the Indian market last year. Now, the vendor has unleashed a new smartphone dubbed Alcatel One Touch Idol X+ in the country today exclusively through the e-commerce portal – Flipkart. This new flagship model is priced at Rs 16,999 and here we come with a quick review of the same.

Alcatel One Touch Idol X+

Camera and Internal Storage

The Alcatel One Touch Idol X+ has been given a 13 MP primary snapper at its back teamed up with autofocus, LED flash and full HD video recording. Also onboard is a 2 MP front-facing camera that can pave way for 1080p video calling and clicking attractive selfies. You can toggle ISO settings according to your taste. In our initial testing, the camera performed pretty well.

The internal storage capacity of the Alcatel One Touch Idol X+ stands at 16 GB. This internal storage space is pretty much acceptable as it can be used to store all the default software and installed applications with any hassle.

Processor and Battery

The heart of the Alcatel One Touch Idol X+ is an octa-core MediaTek MT6592 SoC that ticks at 2 GHz. This processor is supplemented by Mali 450 GPU to handle intense graphics and 2 GB of RAM that can take charge of the multi-tasking department. This combination of octa-core processor and 2 GB RAM definitely sweetens the deal.

Powering the smartphone is a 2,500 mAh battery that appears to be good enough for an octa-core smartphone in the budget price range. It is expected to last for a day under moderate usage, but a larger battery capacity would have done wonders to the device undoubtedly. Alcatel claims 16 hours of 3G talk time and about 600 plus hours of 3G standby time which if true is quite good.

Display and Features

The display unit of the Alcatel One Touch Idol X+ is a 5 inch IPS panel that has a Full HD resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. This IPS panel will surely exceptional viewing angles and color contrast. Moreover, we hardly have any notable FHD devices in the budget price range and this should be a success factor for Alcatel. The display is also protected by dragon trail glass and Oleophobic coating

The Alcatel One Touch Idol X+ runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, but we doubt if it will get upgraded in future. Usually, it is rare for budget smartphones to receive upgrades, but vendors such as Lava, Motorola and Micromax are working towards changing this trend. Furthermore, the Alcatel offering will be providing a free JBL headphone and BoomBand fitness band with this smartphone.

Comparison

The Alcatel One Touch Idol X+ will be fighting a battle with iBerry Auxus Nuclea N2, Karbonn Titanium Octane Plus and Micromax Canvas Knight A350 as they all possess similar specs and fall in the same price bracket.
