Quick Answer
- Like always, rear camera comes with a 5 MP shooter and if Micromax is using the same unit as on Unite 2, it will be a decent one.
- Other phones included in this series are Micromax A09X are Micromax Canvas Engage A091 and Unite A092, and each of these sports a Quad core chipset from different manufacturer and that is what primarily differentiates all three (with respect to hardware)selling at nearly the same price.
- In the same price range, Moto E and Unite 2 also come with a bigger battery and decent battery backup.
Another smartphone has been quietly added to Micromax’ s A09X series portfolio dubbed as Canvas Fire A093. Other phones included in this series are Micromax A09X are Micromax Canvas Engage A091 and Unite A092, and each of these sports a Quad core chipset from different manufacturer and that is what primarily differentiates all three (with respect to hardware)selling at nearly the same price. Let’s take a look at Micromax Canvas Fire A093 hardware specifications.
Camera and Internal Storage
Like always, rear camera comes with a 5 MP shooter and if Micromax is using the same unit as on Unite 2, it will be a decent one. If you are looking for a camera specific Android phone in this price range, perhaps Asus Zenfone 4.5 with an 8 MP shooter will serve you better. LED Flash and a front VGA camera is also present as part of imaging hardware.
Internal storage is same trite 4 GB which will leave around 1.5 GB for data and around 650 MB for Applications. MicroSD support is also present up to 32 GB, but that doesn’t solve every issue. Unite A092, Zenfone 4 and Zenfone 4.5 are all shipping with 8 GB internal storage at the same price range.
Processor and Battery
Canvas Engage A091 comes with 1.2 GHz Broadcomm SoC, where as the Micromax Unite A092 is powered by 1.2 GHz Quad Core Snapdragon MSM8212. This time, Micromax has included a 1.3 GHz MediaTek Quad Core MT6582 which was also present in Micromax Unite 2.
RAM capacity has been trimmed down to 512 MB which will be a limiting factor. With phones like Zenfone 4 , 4.5 and Moto E providing 1 GB RAM, Canvas Fire loses its appeal. All three chipset have their positives but in day to day usage MT6582 is slightly faster based on our experience with other phones so far.
Battery capacity is 1750 mAh, which sounds average in this price range. In the same price range, Moto E and Unite 2 also come with a bigger battery and decent battery backup.
Display and Other Features
The display is 4 inches in size and sports manageable WVGA 480 x 800 pixel resolution amounting to 233 pixels per inches. It’s an TFT LCD display panel so don’t expect good viewing angles and you won’t get Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top either.
Canvas Fire runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat and Dual SIM phone comes in an iPhone like design and is presently available in Black Gold color. Other color options include White Gold, Black Silver and White Silver. Connectivity features include 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth and GPS. The Canvas Fire reportedly also comes with dual Frontal speakers for uninterrupted audio experience but we haven’t been able to confirm this feature yet.
Comparison
Micromax Canvas Fire A093 will have a lot of fire raining on it from tough competitors like Moto E, Unite A092, Unite 2, Xolo Q600s, Zenfone 4 and Zenfone 4.5. Canvas Fire might be a viable option over the competition after initial few price cuts.

Conclusion
In an era where budget Android phone users are being flattered by Tier 1 Manufacturers like Motorola and Asus, Micromax and all other domestic vendors will have to step up their game. Canvas Fire A093 would have been more attractive couple of months ago, but will face tough competition in today’s market. However, we do appreciate the new design language and perhaps the phone will also sport dual frontal speakers to swoon music lovers.
