Leading indigenous smartphone maker Micromax appears to be all set to announce a low cost octa-core smartphone dubbed Micromax A290. If rumors are to be believed, the unannounced Micromax  A290 smartphone will be a budget octa-core device with some standard specifications.

Well, the details regarding the same have been let out by the entrusted insider @MMXNewscaster. According to the tweet, the Micromax A290 will feature a 1.4 GHz octa-core processor paired with 1 GB of RAM and run on Android 4.4 KitKat operating system.

To meet the storage requirements, this handset is tipped to pack 8 GB of internal storage with expandable storage support via a micro SD card. The other aspects of the handset as revealed by the source include an 8 MP primary snapper that is teamed up with a 5 MP front-facer and a standard 2,010 mAh battery.

In addition to these specifications, the ongoing media reports suggest that the Micromax A290 smartphone will be a low-cost device priced in the sub Rs 12,000 price bracket. Also, like the other smartphones in this price range, this one will also include dual SIM card slots and common aspects such as 3G, Bluetooth, GPS and Wi-Fi.

The Indian smartphone arena is witnessing a plethora of octa-core devices as they render amazing performance despite being energy efficient. Such performance is desired for lag-free app handling, long battery life and more. With a low cost octa-core processor powered Micromax A290, the firm will definitely be able to grab the attention of more consumers than before thereby progressing to a better position in the market. However, prior to Micromax, India based iBerry and Wickedleak have already come up with low-cost octa-core smartphones with the launch of iBerry Auxus Nuclea X and Wickedleak Wammy Neo Youth.
