Firefox OS provides a platform for universal web developers to make Javascript based apps (without learning native codes and APIs) and at the user end, it aims at making internet available to the masses in developing nations at humble prices. Intex Cloud Fx and Spice Fire One Mi Fx1 with resource efficient Firefox have been launched as Entry level smartphones at a price where they are least threatened by Android. Let’s put both of these phones against one another.
Display and Processor
Both smartphones have exactly similar configuration in this regard. Based on our initial time spent with both devices, the experience is same as well. You get 3.5 inches of TFT LCD Panel with beefed up bezels and HVGA 320 X 480 pixel resolution, amounting to 164 pixels per inches.
A 1 GHz processor powers both smartphones (details unknown) backed by 128 MB RAM, which is sufficient for smooth UI navigations, but still leaves us wanting for more. However, the price tag doesn’t leave much to complain about.
Camera and Internal Storage
Spice Fire One comes with a 1.3 MP rear camera aided by VGA front shooter where as Intex Cloud Fx comes with a better 2 MP rear shooter at the back and a similar front shooter. Quality of both rear shooters are average performers and it won’t make much of a difference in practical life. Spice Fire One comes with LED flash at the back to aid low light photography unlike Intex Cloud Fx.
Internal storage is again similar at 256 MB out of which only 70 MB is available at users end. 4 GB of MicroSD expansion is also permitted, but you can’t transfer Apps to MicroSD card.
Battery and Other Features
Spice phone comes with Bigger 1400 mAh battery as compared to 1250 mAh in Intex Cloud Fx. Since both phones have similar hardware and software, the extra mAh will certainly translate to better battery backup, which is a substantial advantage.
Both smartphones support dual SIM functionality, 2G, Bluetooth, WiFi and same set of preloaded apps. So there is nothing to choose from in the software department.
