There is interesting news for the Lumia users out there as the official Lumia Twitter handle has tweeted a great update. It claims that all the Lumia phones that are running on Windows Phone 8 operating system will receive the Windows 10 update.
It was already mentioned that the next update will be Windows 10 and that it will roll out next year. Furthermore, it is claimed that this update will unify the Windows platform and make it compatible for all the devices including phones, tablets and PCs. Talks regarding the one Platform for all Devices strategy were circulating for since quite sometime, but now it appears to take its shape.
It is really great to see Microsoft to rollout the update to old smartphones with less RAM. Microsoft ditched the Windows Phone 7 smartphones when it came up with the Windows Phone 8 update that was a huge blow for the popularity of the platform on the whole. Hence, it is clear that the tech giant will not repeat the same thing by leaving some devices while rolling out the update.
However, it remains unclear if the non Lumia devices made by the other manufacturers are compatible to receive the Windows 10 update or not.
