Adobe Lightroom App for Photographers Now Available for Android

Adobe Lightroom App is now available for Android smartphones as well. The photo editing app, which was first launched for iOS can be used to edit, organize and share images. It is a companion app to Lightroom 5 desktop software, available as part of Adobe Creative Cloud.

The app is basically meant for professionals and those who use Adobe Creative cloud photography plan to manage their photography. The Creative Cloud Photography plan (USD$9.99 per month) includes Lightroom 5, Photoshop CC and Lightroom mobile with immediate access to updates as soon as they are released.

The app will help you manage, share and edit your photography while on the move. Your camera roll can automatically sync with the app, you can even edit RAW images from DSLRs and sync your work with your desktop.

Adobe recommends that you should have Android Jelly Bean+, quad core CPU clocked at 1.7 GHz with 1 GB RAM and 8 GB of free storage on your smartphone. You can download the app for free and enjoy 30 day free trial, post which you will have to subscribe to Adobe Creative Cloud Photography plan.


Key Lightroom mobile capabilities include:

  • Sync edits, metadata and collection changes to the Lightroom catalog on a Mac or Windows computer
  • Automatically import images from the smartphone gallery and sync back to the Lightroom catalog on the desktop
  • Edit images using familiar Lightroom tools and presets, including non-destructive processing using Smart Previews
  • Quickly flag and reject photos
