The Asus Zenfone 2 that was unveiled during the CES 2015 tech show in January was speculated to be launched in India in the coming months. A GSMArena has announced that the handset will be launched in the Indian market in the second quarter of this year. The report states that the information was confirmed by an executive of the firm on the sidelines of the EeeBook X205 launch event.
Apart from the Zenfone 2, it is claimed that the Zenfone Zoom will hit the retail shelves in India after the launch of the Zenfone 2 that could possibly by in the third quarter of this year. Lately, Asus India’s Country Head, Peter Chang tipped that the ZenWatch smartwatch based on Android Wear will not see its India launch sometime soon. We can expect the wearable to go on sale after the Zenfone 2, Zenfone Zoom and other products unveiled at the CES 2015 tech show.
To refresh on the specifications, the Asus ZenFone 2 carries the highlight of being equipped with a 64 bit 2.3 GHz Intel Atom Z3580 quad core processor paired with 2 GB of RAM and 4 GB of RAM respectively depending on the variant. It will come with 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB of default storage capacities that can be expanded externally by another 64 GB using a micro SD card.
ZenFone 2 runs on Asus ZenUI based on Android 5.0 Lollipop. It flaunts a 5.5 inch full HD IPS display with 1920×1080 pixels protected with the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating. There is a 13 MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture, auto focus and dual color Real Tone flash. Also, there is a 5 MP front facing camera with 85 degree wide-angle lens. Other goodies onboard the device include 4G LTE (Cat. 4), 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB OTG and NFC. A 3,000 mAh battery powers the smartphone and it has fast charging technology that can charge the phone up to 60 percent in 39 minutes.

The Asus ZenFone Zoom is designed with the photographers as the prime targets as it features 3x optical zoom. It also runs on Asus ZenUI based on Android 5.0 Lollipop and has similar hardware specifications as the ZenFone 2. The only difference is that the ZenFone Zoom boasts of a 13 MP main camera with f/2.7 to f/4.8 aperture, 10-element lenses with 3x optical zoom, OIS, laser auto-focus and dual color Real Tone flash. It is touted that the ZenFone Zoom is the world’s thinnest 3x optical smartphone offering up to 12x zoom-in effect. Furthermore, the device comes with 128 GB of inbuilt storage capacity.
