The Nokia 6 is a very decent first attempt. Most of the specs of the phone are very good, save for the SoC. For the asking price, Nokia could have used a Snapdragon 625 or Snapdragon 650 chipset. That said, with a 5.5 inch full HD display, 4 GB RAM, Android 7.0 Nougat, Dual SIM, 4G VoLTE and a 16 MP rear camera, the Nokia 6 does have a good chance against phones from Xiaomi and others.
