The latest entrant in the Indian telecom segment, Reliance Jio has updated its plans and revealed new plans with the name Diwali Dhan Dhana Dhan. Earlier reports about Jio increasing the tariffs have turned out to be true for the Rs. 399 plan. The Rs. 149 plan, however, has become more attractive.
The first change that we see when we look at the new and the previous plans is that Reliance Jio has reduced the number of plans from 12 to 9. Some plans have improved and some plans have been downgraded.
Jio has removed both, its cheapest and its costliest plans, i.e., you will no longer be able to recharge with Rs. 19 and Rs. 9,999 plans. Another change in all its plans is that the post FUP speed in unlimited data plans has been reduced from 128Kbps to 64Kbps.
The current Rs. 399 plan that offered 1GB 4G data per day, unlimited local and STD voice calls, free SMSs and access to Jio’s suite of apps with a validity of 84 days will now come with a validity of 70 days and the remaining benefits remain the same.
Now, you can get the same benefits of the previous Rs. 399 plan by recharging with Rs. 459. While this may come as a bad news to many, the updated plans from Jio also come with a good news.
The Rs. 149 plan that earlier offered 2GB 4G data, unlimited post FUP data at a speed of 64Kbps, unlimited local and STD voice calls and 300 SMSs, will now offer 4.2GB 4G data with a daily FUP of 0.15GB or 150MB, unlimited local and STD voice calls and 300 SMSs with a validity of 28 days.
The validity of Rs. 509 plan has been reduced from 56 days to 49 days. This plan offers 2GB 4G data per day, unlimited local and STD voice calls, free SMSs and access to Jio’s suite of apps.
