Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus (PRODUCT) RED Editions on Monday, April 9. The Cupertino giant had previously launched the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus (PRODUCT) RED Editions to support RED, an organization that raises awareness and funds to help eradicate AIDS in African countries.
The new limited edition (PRODUCT) RED Apple iPhone 8 models details were spotted in a Virgin Mobile memo as reported by MacRumors. A memo has been distributed to Virgin Mobile employees that confirms the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus (PRODUCT) RED Editions will be listed by the carrier on Monday, April 9. The memo, however, doesn’t mention an iPhone X (PRODUCT) RED Edition.
As per the report, the new limited-edition iPhone 8 models are said to be initially available for pre-orders in the US. Though their availability details are likely to be revealed through a press release later. Also, apart from iPhone 8 models, the company could launch the (PRODUCT) RED Editions of all three new iPhone models to support (RED) this year.
Apart from MacRumors report, there is another reliable source about iPhone 8 PRODUCT RED Edition launch. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has confirmed the arrival of the (PRODUCT) RED iPhone 8 models as well without mentioning any details about the launch price and availability.
Apple has partnered with the RED company for (PRODUCT) RED brand and raised over $160 million (Rs. 1,038 crores approx.) as of now. The last year’s iPhone 7, iPods, and iPads have received the red color edition to support the (PRODUCT) RED brand.
The sales of these limited-edition models contribute to the Global Fund AIDS grants that provide testing, counseling, treatment, and prevention programmes with a focus specifically to eradicate the transmission of the HIV virus from mothers to their babies. Moreover, the main aim of the RED brand is to help combat AIDS in eight African countries including Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Rwanda, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, and Zambia.
