Redmi 7A Vs Realme C2: Best Budget Phone Under Rs 6,000?

Xiaomi launched the Redmi 7A in India today. The Redmi 7A is a budget range phone that comes with features like HD+ 18:9 display, Snapdragon 439 processor, Android 9.0 Pie, 12MP rear camera, and a 4,000mAh battery.

The Redmi 7A price in India starts at Rs. 5,999. At this same price point, Realme launched Realme C2 in India back in April. Realme’s phone comes with dewdrop notch display, Helio P22 processor and dual rear cameras at a starting price of Rs. 5,999.

Let’s find out which of them is the best budget phone under Rs. 6,000.

Design and Display: Old 18:9 display vs dewdrop notch

Since these are the budget phones so they sport polycarbonate body. The back of the Redmi 7A looks simple without any gradient or gloss. The Realme C2 comes with a diamond cut pattern on the back that isn’t glossy either.

Realme C2 is slimmer and lightweight than Redmi 7A. Overall, design-wise Realme C2 looks a little better, as it also has a dewdrop notch at the front.

Coming to the display quality, the Redmi 7A has a 5.45-inch HD+ (1440×720 pixels) display that offers good brightness. The Realme C2, on the other hand, has a 6.1-inch HD+ notch display that also offers great brightness and is also protected by Gorilla Glass 3.

Winner: Realme C2.

Cameras: Single vs Dual

The Redmi 7A has a 12MP primary camera with f/2.2 aperture and 1.25 um pixel size. It is the same Sony IMX 486 sensor which is used in Redmi Note 7 and Mi A2. The camera might click good pictures just like these Xiaomi phones. There is a 5MP selfie camera.

Realme C2 comes with dual rear camera setup with a 13MP primary camera and a 2MP secondary camera for depth effects. It also clicks good pictures justifying its price. It also has a 5MP AI selfie camera.

Performance: Snapdragon 439 vs Helio P22

The Redmi 7A gets a new Snapdragon 439 octa-core processor that is paired with 2GB RAM. This is a new 12nm series processor clocked at up to 2.0GHz that has some improvements in terms of camera and power consumption.

The Realme C2 has MediaTek Helio P22 octa-core chipset inside. It is also a 12nm process based processor clocked at up to 2.0GHz. They may perform the same, however, in terms of multitasking Snapdragon could be a little better.

Winner: Redmi 7

Software: MIUI vs ColorOS

The Redmi 7A runs on Android 9.0 Pie with MIUI 10 on top. The Realme C2 also runs on Android 9 Pie based with ColorOS 5.1. Both phones have their usual set of apps in UI.

Battery and Connectivity

The Redmi 7A packs a big 4,000mAh battery. Realme C2 also packs the same battery.

The 7A comes with up to 32GB storage that is expandable up to 256GB via a dedicated microSD card slot. The Realme C2 comes with up to 64GB storage that is expandable up to 256GB via a dedicated microSD card slot.

Other connectivity features on both phones are Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS + GLONASS, 3.5mm audio jack, and micro USB port.

Verdict

At Rs. 5,999, Realme offers a better design and display as well as a good processor. While in terms of camera specs, Redmi 7A could offer better results. It has a better processor as well. Overall, if you are going to buy a good looking budget phone, Realme C2 could be a better deal but Xiaomi’s phone has its own benefits in terms of performance and camera.
