Samsung Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20+Launched: Price, Specifications

Samsung unveiled its flagship Galaxy S20 series at its Galaxy Unpacked event in San Francisco yesterday. The Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20+ smartphones come with similar specs and features, only the latter comes a bigger display, a bigger battery, and an additional depth sensor. The key features of the Galaxy S20 series include QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity-O Display with 120Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon 865 or Exynos 990 SoC, LPDDR5 RAM, in-display Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner, IP68 water & dust resistance, and camera setup with 12MP Dual Pixel primary sensor + 12MP Ultra Wide Lens + 64MP Telephoto lens. The Galaxy S20 series also comes in 5G models.

Galaxy S20 & Galaxy S20+ Full Specs

The Galaxy S20 and S20+ sport a 6.2-inch and 6.7-inch Quad HD+ (3200 × 1440 pixels) Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity-O Display respectively. The screens support HDR10+ and 120Hz refresh rate. The display also has an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.

The devices are powered by Snapdragon 865 or Exynos 990 processors depending on the market. These pack 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and minimum 128GB UFS 3.0 storage. The 5G models have 12GB RAM and S20+ 5G comes in a 512GB model also.

In the camera department, these sport a 12MP Dual Pixel primary rear camera with f/1.8 aperture, Super Speed Dual Pixel AF, OIS, a 64MP Telephoto lens with OIS, Hybrid Optic Zoom 3X, Super-Resolution Zoom up to 30X, and a 12MP 120° Ultra Wide sensor. The S20+ has an additional Depth Vision camera. The phones also support 8K video recording.

There is a 10MP Dual Pixel front camera with an 80° wide-angle lens on both the phones.

Connectivity features include Dual 4G VoLTE, 5G SA/NSA, NFC, MST, Wi-Fi 802.11ax (2.4/5GHz), MIMO, 1024-QAM, HE80, Bluetooth 5, GPS/GLONASS, and USB 3.1. The phones sport stereo speakers tuned by AKG and have Dolby Atmos support.

The Galaxy S20 sports a 4,000mAh while Galaxy S20+ packs a 4,500 mAh battery. These support 25W fast charging both on wired and wireless. The devices also come with a Wireless PowerShare feature.

Dimensions of Galaxy S20 are 151.7 x 69.1 x 7.9mm and its weight is 163g. Dimensions of Galaxy S20+ are 161.9 x 73.7 x 7.8mm and its weight is 186g. The Galaxy S20 comes in Blue, Grey, and Pink colors, while the S20+ comes in Blue, Grey, and Black colors.

The smartphones run Android 10 with OneUI 2.0 on top. Sensors on the devices include Accelerometer, Barometer, Gyro, Geomagnetic sensor, Hall sensor, Proximity sensor, and RGB Light sensor.

Price, Availability

The Galaxy S20 4G version price starts at US$ 981 (Rs. 69,980 approx.) and its 5G version costs $999.99 (Rs. 71,325 approx.). The Galaxy S20+ 4G version is priced at 79,990 Russian Ruble (Rs. 90,000 approx.) and its 5G version with 128GB storage costs $1,199.99 (Rs. 85,590 approx.) and 512GB model costs $1,299.99 (Rs. 92,720 approx.).

The Galaxy S20 and S20+ pre-orders will start from February 21 and these will go on sale from March 6. The pre-registration is also open in India on Samsung’s official website.
