Ways to Fix Face ID with Mask Not Working

Update Your iPhone

First of all, this feature works only after the iOS 15.4 update. So if your iPhone hasn’t received the update, you can check for it in the settings and then install it.


1. Go to Settings and tap on General.

2. On the next page, select Software Update.

3. If there is an update available, tap on Download and Install.

Enable the Face ID with Mask Option

Once you update your iPhone, it is equally necessary to enable the “Face ID with a Mask” feature. Otherwise, you won’t be able to use it. Here’s how to enable this:

3. When a frame opens, look straight into the front camera and try to place your face inside the frame.

4. Move your head to complete the circle and when you finish the scan, tap on Continue.

5. Once again, move your head to complete the circle for a second time and when the setup is complete, tap on Done.

When you set up an alternative appearance, choose the ” Use Face ID with a Mask” option once again, and then set it up. After that, you can try unlocking your iPhone with your face while wearing a mask.
