Listening to your favourite songs can rejuvenate your mood, but sometimes, we get in the mood of only listening to the vocals without the music. Top artists can create absolute magic through their voices, and their songs sound much sweeter without any background music. However, it’s difficult to find an unplugged version of each track. To solve this problem, we have tested the top five vocal removers from songs to see which one works the best. Let’s dive in.

Best AI Vocal Removers From Songs
A good vocal extractor should clearly differentiate between the background score and the actual voice. In order to find the best tool, we used the same soundtrack Something Just Like This by Coldplay and Chainsmokers. All the tools which we tested are free to use and can be accessed on any computer or smartphone in a web browser.
1. Voice.ai
Voice.ai is a powerful tool that not only lets you remove background music from a song but also offers options like echo remover, reverb remover, stem splitter, key BPM finder, and more. It provides one free conversion, after which you will have to log in by creating an account. The best part is that it lets you download the entire song with pure vocals, even in the free version.

Listen final output from Voice.ai:
The output from Voice.ai was the best among all the tools that we tested. The vocals sounded very natural, and it effectively removed each music component from the soundtrack. However, in areas where there are no vocals, the tool mutes that section completely instead of trimming it, so you may come across some blank parts in the edited song. Not a major drawback, considering the near-flawless results.
2. Lalal.ai
Lalai.ai gives you comprehensive controls to selectively remove drums, bass, guitar, piano, acoustics, synthesizers, and even wind noise. The free version provides output of up to one minute long, which you can also download. You can also adjust the intensity, and L-R stereo sound effects, and preserve some amount of music while extracting vocals.

The biggest advantage of Lalal.ai is that it filters out blank parts of the song where there are no vocals, so you get a clean voice-only soundtrack. The vocals sound crisp and natural and it feels like listening to an unplugged version. It also preserves humming, something which other tools on this list just filtered out. If it wasn’t for the time limit, Lalal.ai is the best free tool to remove background music from a song.
3. PhonicMind
PhonicMind lets you extract vocals, and even selectively remove drum, bass, and other background music elements. You can adjust the intensity of each filter by using the slider. The tool takes approximately 1-2 minutes to process the song after uploading, after which you can apply each filter in real-time.

Listen final output from PhonicMind:
The free version lets you edit soundtracks for up to 30 seconds. If you upload a longer song, it will randomly choose a part of the song. In our experience, PhonicMind worked fine, but the vocals ended up with a robotic sound effect, similar to autotune. The results were not perfect, but if you are working with shorter soundtracks, then this is a quick and easy-to-use tool.
4. VocalRemover.org
VocalRemover.org has the neatest UI among all the tools that we tested. In addition to extracting vocals, it also lets you split audio and record karaoke songs. It’s completely free to use and has no upper limits for song edits.

Listen final output from VoiceRemover.org:
However, the results were not as good compared to other tools. Vocal remover could not filter out all the music elements, and we could still hear some instruments. There was also some noise in the final soundtrack, and it did not feel pleasant to hear. It also keeps blank elements in the song where there are no vocals. It’s not bad, but it’s not the best either, considering the competition.
5. Kits AI
Kits AI is a professional-grade tool that offers plenty of adjustment options. It lets you remove vocals and also modify the pitch of the song, clone voices, and perform many other edits. All of these edits are powered by AI.

The final soundtrack from Kits AI had excellent vocals, but there was some amount of reverb. There was no sign of music noise, which was impressive. However, the free version does not let you download the edited song, which is a huge drawback. But if you are interested in testing out other features, then getting the pro subscription should be worth it, given the results from our testing.
