At the Samsung Forum that happened over the weekend, Samsung has splashed the market with a slew of product launches. Especially, when it comes to the 4G market segment, the vendor has come up with three smartphones. The Galaxy J1 4G is the cheapest of the trio and here is a quick review of the smartphone priced at Rs 9,990.
Camera and Internal Storage
The Galaxy J1 4G is given a 5 MP primary snapper at its back that is teamed up with auto focus and LED flash for an enhanced low light photography. This snapper is accompanied by a front facing 2 MP camera for video conferencing and clicking self portrait shots. Given the pricing of the device, these imaging aspects seem to be less capable as there are better offerings in the market.
Storage wise, the Samsung phone comes with a paltry 4 GB of native storage space that can be expanded externally by another 128 GB with the help of a micro SD card. Of course, the internal storage space is too low, but the whopping additional memory capacity helps in this segment.

Processor and Battery
The Samsung Galaxy J1 4G is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad core processor that should be capable of providing a decent performance. This processor is backed by 768 MB of RAM for efficient multitasking that is desires from an entry level smartphone.
Battery capacity in the phone is a moderate 1,850 mAh unit that should suffice in rendering moderate hours of backup to the device under mixed usage.
Display and Features
The Galaxy J1 4G is fitted with a 4.3 inch WVGA display carrying a pixel resolution of 480×800 pixels. This screen should be capable enough of handling the basic tasks without any hassle. Moreover, we cannot expect anything superior from a smartphone of this pricing.
The dual SIM Samsung smartphone is fueled by Android 4.4 KitKat and it is packed with usual connectivity aspects including 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and NFC alongside 4G LTE compatible with both TD-LTE and FDD-LT networks.

Price and Conclusion
The Samsung Galaxy J1 4G priced at Rs 9,990 falls in the entry level smartphone segment, but it seems to be priced pretty high for the specifications it is given. There are better offerings at similar price bracket including the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G that will make the competition fiercer. However, Samsung fans seeking for a low end 4G smartphone can choose this device.
