Well now a days when the users are planning to wait in buy their smartphones as they know that Lime Pie might jump any day in Future and so at this point of time I will never recommend the users to go for the obsolete android versions like Gingerbread or older. If you are paying a very low amount like 5,000 INR or below for an Android smartphone then compromising on this part can be acceptable to a certain extent, but spending more than 12,000 INR and then getting Gingerbread will not be a wise option.
I am talking about a new phone spotted on Flipkart named as Sony Xperia U which is available at the price of 12,990 INR. Let us see the other specifications of this phone. Starting with the screen size then it is quite small (size of Samsung Galaxy or iPhone 4) which is 3.5 inches and that too with the FWVGA resolution (854 x 480 pixels).
The operating system of this device as indicated above is Gingerbread (but in this case you can upgrade this to Ice cream Sandwich Android v4.0) and the power sustained on this device is on the shoulders of 1GHz Dual Core Processor (no info about the exact model of the processor) but it is known that it is based on the Arm architecture of Cortex A-9 (which is not that obsolete and decent in this price range).
The primary camera available at the back is of 5MP which is further supported by LED Flash and it also has the capability of recording the video at 720p resolution along with Geo-tagging, Touch Focus, Face and Smile Detection. In the front you will see a secondary camera which is a VGA camera and decent enough for video calling.
It has the internal storage capacity of 8GB which can be further stretched to a certain extent (not known). The battery strength is 1320 mAh which will provide you the talk time of 6 hours on 2G and 5 hours on 3G. You can order this from Flipkart.
