Display and Processor

The Nokia X as well as the Lumia 520 get a 4 inch display which has a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. Both have a pixel density of 233 ppi and there is pretty much no difference in terms of screen. The Lumia 520 features additional scratch resistance.

When we get to what is under the hood, the scenario is pretty much the same here as well. The Lumia 520 as well as the Nokia X have a 1GHz dual core processor doing the processing duty. The Nokia X might come a close second as compared to the Nokia Lumia 520 because Windows Phone uses lesser resources as compared to Android. Both get a 512MB RAM.

Camera and Internal Storage

The Lumia 520 comes shod with a 5MP rear camera and misses out on a front facing camera whereas the Nokia X on the other hand features a 3MP rear camera and it also misses out on a front snapper. The Lumia 520 clearly emerges as a better performer in the imaging department.

Nokia X gets an internal storage capacity of 4GB which will be available for expansion via a microSD card by another 32GB which is pretty much what you get in budget Android device. The Lumia 520 however features double of both and gets 8GB of internal storage which teams up with an expansion slot supporting microSD cards up to 64GB.

Battery and Features

The Lumia 520 comes with a 1,430 mAh battery which the company claims will offer a stand by time of up to 360 hours (3G)and talk time of 14 hours 40 minutes on 2G and of 9 hours 40 minutes on 3G. The Nokia X on the other hand gets a 1,500 mAh battery unit which will offer a stand by time of up to 408 hours and a talk time of 13 hours 40 minutes on 2G and 10 hours 30 minutes on 3G. The Lumia 520 emerges as a winner in this regard despite the fact that it has a smaller battery unit.

The Lumia 520 runs on the latest Lumia Black update for Windows Phone 8 and the Nokia X runs on a forked version of Android. You can side-load applications on to the device and from Nokia store and third party stores like Yandex. So it is a choice between what UI do you like more in this regard.

Conclusion

Both the smartphones are pretty good. Nokia X is a new entrant and will launch in India as well. The Lumia 520 has already proven its worth and it is still one of the better  sub Rs 10,000 devices. It will be rivaled by its own Android sibling and when that arrives, the Lumia 520 sales might see a downfall.
