The Moto X from the Google acquired company has made its way into India via the online retailer Flipkart for Rs 23,999 and it is drawing huge sales. While the device attracts many consumers for its impressive feature set, there is another device that is also creating a buzz in the market. Well, we are talking about the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2, the successor of Galaxy Grand Duos launched last year. Priced at Rs 21,500, the Samsung offering has also been grabbed by consumers crazily. Now, here we compare both the Moto X and the Galaxy Grand 2 to analyze the difference between them:
Display and Processor
As far as the display is concerned, the Moto X is surely the winner as it is fitted with a 4.7 inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with HD resolution of 1280×720 pixels and 312 ppi pixel density. Furthermore, the screen is topped with Corning Gorilla Glass for protection and the AMOLED display will provide good color reproduction and save the battery life. On the other hand, the Galaxy Grand 2 features a 5.25 inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280×720 that totals to a pixel density of 280 pixels per inch.
In terms of processor, the Moto X incorporates a dual-core 1.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8960 Pro processor. In comparison, the Samsung phone comes with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked a slightly slower 1.2 GHz speed. Moreover, the Grand 2 utilizes only 1.5 GB RAM, which is again lower than the 2 GB RAM in its counterpart.
Camera and Internal Storage
On the photography front, none of the phones seem to be superior, but the Moto X appears to fare better with a 10 MP rear snapper with Quick Capture, LED flash, 4x digital zoom, 1080p FHD video recording, auto HDR and others. Also, there is a 2 MP front-facer for video calling available on the handset. Talking about the opponent, the Galaxy Grand 2 features an 8 MP primary camera teamed up with LED flash and image stabilization and a 1.9 MP snapper at the front.
When it comes to internal memory capacity, the Moto X comes in only 16 GB option for now, which cannot be expanded further, whereas the Galaxy Grand 2 comes with 8 GB of onboard storage that can be expanded up to 64 GB using a micro SD card. Hence, the Galaxy Grand 2 will better serve those with huge memory requirements.
Battery and Features
Moto X has a 2,200 mAh battery capable of offering 13 hours of talk time and 576 hours of standby time. On the other hand, there is a 2,600 mAh battery in the Galaxy Grand 2 delivering up to 17 hours of talk time and 370 hours of standby time. Hence, both the batteries can be said to be above average and should be sufficient for normal usage.
On the software front, the Moto X runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and it is upgradeable to Android 4.4 KitKat, whereas the Galaxy Grand 2 comes with Android 4.3 and there the chances for an upgrade to KitKat are bleak.
Besides the hardware aspects discussed above, the Moto X has a slew of software features such as Active Display that shows the alerts and notifications even while the display is off, Migrate app to transfer content and call logs to an Android 4.2 phone and Touchless Control to listen to the voice commands. Also, the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 has a plethora of features such as Story Album to organize pictures in a timeline and create and print albums using the phone, S Translator for instant translations, S Travel, Sound & Shot to record audio with photos, Samsung Hub content service, Group Play to listen music, share docs and play games together and Samsung Link to access content from different locations.
The Moto X features 4G LTE connectivity in addition to those common attributes that are found in the Galaxy Grand 2. The features present in both include Wi-Fi, 3G, Wi-Fi Hotspot and Bluetooth 4.0.
