Display and Processor

The Lenovo S860 flaunts a large 5.3 inch IPS LCD capacitive touch screen display that boasts HD resolution of 1280×720 pixels that translates to a pixel density of 277 pixels per inch. In comparison, the Xperia M2 Dual features a 4.8 inch scratch resistant capacitive touch screen display that packs a qHD resolution of 960×540 pixels totaling to a lower 229 ppi pixel density. Obviously, the Lenovo offering with increased pixel density is better and being an IPS LCD panel it will deliver excellent viewing angles.

While the latter has only 1 GB of RAM for multi-tasking, Lenovo has given its phone a bigger 2 GB RAM to excel in this department.

Camera and Internal Storage

Both the smartphone pack an 8 MP primary camera at their rear accompanied with auto focus and LED flash. However, the one on Xperia M2 Dual has OIS and 1080p video recording ability for enhanced imaging experience. While the Lenovo handset has a 1.6 MP front-facer, the Sony phone includes only a VGA front-facing snapper.

On the storage front, the Lenovo S860 packs 16 GB of onboard storage that cannot be expanded as the handset lacks a micro SD card slot. On the other hand, the Xperia M2 Dual comes packed with 8 GB of internal storage space that can be further expanded up to 32 GB with the help of a micro SD card. Though the internal storage in the Sony phone is less as compared to its opponent, the support for expandable storage is a benefit.

Battery and Features

As mentioned above, the Lenovo S860 includes a juicy 4,000 mAh battery that is expected to deliver a superior backup for the phone to last for a day even on intense usage. However, the Sony phone is fueled by a 2,300 mAh battery that is rated to provide up to 12 hours of talk time and 597 hours of standby time.

When it comes to the software front, the Lenovo S860 is stuck on to the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS, whereas the Sony Xperia M2 Dual runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS. Given that even the budget phones are based on Android 4.4 KitKat platform, these phones need to receive an update some in future to keep focused in the smartphone race.

As far as connectivity is concerned both the phones arrive with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G and GPS, however the Xperia M2 Dual gains more score with NFC and USB OTG features.
