Xolo Win Q900s VS Micromax Canvas Win W121 Comparison Overview

Back in April, Microsoft announced that it will be partnering with India based vendors to launch of affordable and capable Windows Phone 8.1 smartphones. Following the same, Micromax launched couple of smartphones – Canvas Win W121 and Canvas Win W092 early this month in the sub Rs 10,000 price bracket. Now, another indigenous vendor Xolo has also come up with its Windows Phone 8.1 smartphone with the launch of the Xolo Win Q900s that is priced at Rs 9,999. Here is a comparison between the Xolo Win Q900s and the Micromax Canvas Win W121 smartphones.

Display and Processor

The display unit of the Xolo Win Q900s is a 4 inch one which has a HD screen resolution of 1280×720 pixels. Furthermore, it is an OGS panel that makes the phone slim and boasts Dragon Trail Glass that protects it from everyday wear and tear. On the other hand, the Canvas Win W121 has a screen size of 5 inches and a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Both the screens boast IPS panels and hence they are definitely capable of delivering good viewing angles.

However when it comes to the comparison, the Xolo offering with a smaller display results in an increased pixel density of 312 pixels per inch as compared to the moderate pixel density of 294 ppi in its opponent. Also, the Dragon Trail Glass protection is an added advantage of the Xolo Win Q900s.

The internals of both the devices are pretty much identical as they are based on the same Qualcomm reference design model. They both come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 chipset which has four of its cores ticking at 1.2 GHz. It gets coupled with a 1GB RAM so the performance on offer would be quite snappy too. The main benefit of this chipset is that it conserves the battery life by being power efficient.

Camera and Internal Storage

The Xolo Win Q900s features an 8 MP PureCel primary camera that makes the camera power efficient and capable of capturing FHD 1080p video shooting capabilities. On the other hand, the Canvas Win W121 has an 8MP sensor. Both the cameras are teamed up with auto focus camera and LED flash for enhanced low light photography. Further, there is an identical 2MP camera up front on both these phones for clicking selfies and aiding in making video calls. Apparently, it is the Xolo offering is expected to fare well in the camera department with its less power hungry sensor.

Both the handsets include 8 GB of internal storage space that can be expanded using a micro SD card. While the additional storage limit in the Micromax Canvas Win W121 is 64 GB that of the Xolo Win Q900s is not revealed. Obviously, we do not have any complaints in this regard when it comes to both the handsets.

Battery and Features

The battery unit inside the Xolo Win Q900s is a 1,800 mAh unit, whereas that in the Micromax Canvas Win W121 is a 2,000 mAh one. While the backup delivered by both the handsets are not known, we expect them to last for a decent duration under moderate usage.

The Xolo Win Q900s and Micromax Canvas Win W121 are based on Windows Phone 8.1 OS and they are with standard features such as 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and dual SIM with dual standby functionality.
