With the introduction of Moto E, the entry-level smartphone market has been witnessing the launch of several quad-core capable devices in this segment. Following the same, Lava announced its masterpiece – Lava Iris X1 priced at Rs 7,999. However, the handset was highly criticized by the consumers for the inclusion of a meager 4 GB of internal storage space.
Now, the manufacturer has come up with 8 GB of internal storage space for the Iris X1 without increasing the price tag. The upgrade in the storage capacity makes the handset impressive adding more value to the elegance and performance of the device. With the upgrade, the users can download a slew of applications without any concern regarding the limited storage capacity that is board.
This 8 GB of native storage space can be expanded by another 32 GB using a micro SD card. The imaging requirements of the users are addressed by the inclusion of 8 MP BSI primary snapper that is paired with LED flash and a front-facing 2 MP selfie camera. There is a 4.5 inch IPS full lamination display that carries a FWVGA resolution of 854×480 pixels.
Under the hood, the Iris X1 is incorporated with a 1.2 GHz quad-core Broadcom BCM23550 processor aided by an average 1 GB of RAM for decent multi-tasking and performance. Also, there is a 1,800 mAh battery that can render a decent backup under moderate usage.
Connectivity features onboard include 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and USB OTG for file transfer between two devices on the go. The Lava Iris X1 is fueled by Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system out-of-the-box that comes with enough resources for a smooth performance. There are other software features such as new phone app that prioritizes contacts based on frequency automatically and Smart Caller ID. Furthermore, Lava is also providing an intelligent Flip Cover along with the Iris X1 that has a sensor to put the phone to sleep mode thereby consuming the battery life.
