Yes, Apple iPhones just got bigger, better, stronger and sleeker. This year too, Apple has introduced 2 new iPhone models – The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus. Let’s take a look at how these two differ from and resemble each other.
Display and Processor
The Display is the key differentiating factor for both these phones. It’s not just the size but the quality as well. Apple has enhanced its display technology and is now calling these Retina HD displays. The iPhone 6 flaunts a 4.7 Inch Retina HD display with 1334 x 750 pixels amounting to 326 ppi, while the iPhone 6 Plus has a large 5.5 Inch display with 1920 x 1080 pixels, 401 ppi Retina HD display
Both phones are powered by Apple A8 chipset – the second generation 64 bit SoC with double the number of transistors (2 billion) compared to A7 cyclone and twice as energy efficient. The chipset will enhance the performance by 25 percent according to apple, and the GPU will render graphics 50 percent faster.
Camera and Battery
Both iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus feature enhanced 8 MP rear shooter capable of full HD Video recording, slow motion photography @ 240fps, new and improved HDR, up to 43 MP panoramic HDR, new ISP and more, but only iPhone 6 Plus will have Optical image stabilization. iPhone 6 will have to make do with digital image stabilization.
Battery backup for iPhone 6 is 14 hours of talk time, 11 hours of video and 10 days of standby. iPhone 6 Plus despite of a bigger display will manage 16 days of standby time out of the 6 Plus, 14 hours of continual video playback and or a full 24 hours of 3G talk time. Like always, batteries are non-removable.
Internal Storage and Other Features
Depending on what you are willing to pay, you can get 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB variant of both iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. You will have to shell out extra $100 on 2 year contract for iPhone 6 Plus models as compared to iPhone 6.
Other features like iOS 8, gesture support, Apple Pay, WiFi calling, VoLTE, etc highlighted at the launch event will work equally well on both iPhone models.

Thus the major difference lies in presence/absence of Optical image stabilization and the display size. Also iPhone 6 is marginally slimmer at 6.9 mm thickness as compared to iPhone 6 plus which stands at 7.1 mm. The display size will be the key deciding factor if you are planning to upgrade, OIS and bigger battery in iPhone 6 Plus further justify the price difference.
