Lenovo Moto M vs Moto G4 Plus Comparison, Which One To Buy?

The Moto M has finally been launched in India at a price of Rs. 15,999. The latest smartphone in Lenovo‘s Moto lineup comes with a 5.5 inch full HD display and features an octa-core Mediatek Helio P15 processor. The phone comes with a 2.5D display and full metal unibody construction. It was launched in China earlier last month.

At this price point, Moto M stands right against Motorola’s another very successful smartphone Moto G4 Plus. There are a lot of differences between both the smartphones, and we will help you understand which one is for you.

Design & Build

No doubt, Lenovo has done some serious work on the design of the Moto M. It comes packed in an all solid metal chassis whereas the Moto G4 Plus is a plastic made phone. Moto M is slightly heavier than the G4 Plus, but it still has a slimmer body. Moto M has a curved back and sides which feels amazing in hands, but the G4 Plus has a flat back which is also not bad.

Both the phones boast of a fingerprint sensor but the placement is different. Moto G4 Plus has it in front whereas on Moto M it is on the back. The Moto M also has IP68 certification, which makes it dust and water proof, which is a huge advantage over G4 Plus.

In design and build, Moto M is surely superior in all the aspects when compared to Moto G4 Plus.

Display

Both the phones sport a 5.5-inch 1080p display and Corning Gorilla Glass protection.  There is not a lot of difference between both the displays. We can rate them both equal on what we see with naked eyes.

Camera

Both the phones come with a 16MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture but G4 Plus has hybrid autofocus and dual LED but the Moto M has PDAF and single LED flash. On the front, Moto M has an 8 MP camera whereas sMoto G4 Plus has a 5 MP sensor.

We cannot say which one has a better camera for now, but we’ll come up with a detailed comparison very soon.

Battery

Coming to the battery, the Moto G4 Plus features a 3000 mAh battery while the Moto M comes with a 3050 mAh battery. The batteries may be small, but given the price of the phones, it does seem adequate.

Additional facts

  • Moto M has NFC connectivity, while Moto G4 Plus does not have it.
  • Moto M has got necessary upgrades in terms of RAM and storage, which is 3GB RAM 32GB storage and 4GB RAM 64GB storage. Moto G4 Plus comes in 2GB/3GB RAM variants and 32GB/64GB storage.
  • Moto M is the first Moto phone to come with Dolby Atmos sound, something that we have earlier seen on Lenovo phones.
  • Both the phones offer dual SIM 4G support but G4 Plus has micro SIM slots but Moto M has nano SIM slots.

Pricing & Availability

The Moto M has been priced starting at Rs. 15,999 for the 3 GB / 32 GB version while the 4 GB / 64 GB version has been priced at Rs. 17,999. The phone will be available exclusively on Flipkart starting on December 14.

Lenovo is selling the Moto G4 Plus at Rs 13,499 and Rs 14,999 respectively.

Conclusion

Lenovo has done a great job with Moto M, as far as necessary upgrades are concerned. Moto G4 Plus is also a great phone in its segment. But if you are ready to pay above 15K then Moto M is surely a better choice over G4 Plus. The only question is with the new MediaTek Helio P15 processor, as it is the second phone to come with the same.
