BSNL is planning to come up with another tariff plan to take on Reliance Jio and Airtel. As per recent reports, BSNL will soon introduce Rs. 429 plan which gives 1GB data per day and unlimited voice calls for 90 days to all its customers across the country.
Besides this, it will also offer discounted voice calls and SMS for further 90 days. This plan from BSNL is aimed at Reliance Jio and Airtel’s recent Rs. 399 plan. The newest entrant in Indian Telecom, Reliance Jio started this trend of offering 1GB data per day and unlimited voice calls, and now every other telco is following the trend.
Apart from 90GB data for 90 days (1GB per day) and unlimited free calls, this Rs. 429 BSNL plan will have further benefits too. This plan will offer all calls at 50 paise/min and SMSs at 25 paise and 35 paise for on-net and off-net respectively for further 90 days. These calling and SMS rates are applicable only after the expiry of the free pack.
The data and voice call freebies are valid for 90 days, and after that, these calling and SMS rates will be applicable for another 90 days. So, the total validity of Rs. 429 plan will be 180 days. To recall, BSNL also revised the validity of its previous tariff plan ‘Sixer pack’ to 180 days from 90 days.
However, the new Rs. 429 plan will be valid only for 90 days in North East and Jammu & Kashmir circles. Furthermore, it has been reported that the new plan is not applicable to Kerala circle.
Other similar offers
India’s top telecom operator Airtel had recently introduced a Rs. 399 plan offering the same benefits of 1GB data per day and unlimited voice calls to any network across the country for 84 days. However, the voice calls are capped to 1000 minutes per week.
Similarly, Reliance Jio’s Rs. 399 plan comes with 84GB data for 84 days. In this plan, Jio is giving unlimited local and STD calls and unlimited SMS to all operators. Another, incumbent, Vodafone India had also introduced a Rs. 392 plan last week. In this plan, Vodafone offers 1GB 4G data per day with unlimited calls for 28 days.
So, going by this free data and unlimited calls trend, this Rs. 429 plan from BSNL will be a good move to stay in the competition. It will also help the operator to retain the existing and add some new customers.
