Design and build

Starting with the build quality, the Google Pixel 2 XL comes with an Aluminum body with a hybrid water-resistant coating on top. The OnePlus 5T also comes with an Anodized Aluminum chassis and gives a premium look and feel.

While color options are limited on the OnePlus 5T, you get bright and vivid color choices for the Pixel 2 XL. When it comes to design and ease of one-hand-usage, we found that the OnePlus 5 is a more compact phone compared to the Google Pixel 2 XL which feels chunky at times.

Coming to the display now, the Google Pixel 2 XL wins it by a huge margin. The Pixel 2 XL comes with a 6-inch pOLED Quad HD (2880×1440p) resolution display whereas the OnePlus 5T comes with a 6.1-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ (1080 x 2160p) resolution. Both the phones have offer a good amount of brightness and good viewing angles, thanks to the OLED panels.

The display on the Google Pixel 2 XL is an Always-On display while OnePlus sill does not have one. However, at half the price of the Pixel, the OnePlus 5T has a great and immersive display.


Oneplus 5T camera

While the Google Pixel 2 XL comes with a single 12.2MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture and dual LED flash, the OnePlus 5T features a dual 16MP + 20MP camera setup with f/1.7 aperture.

The camera on the Google Pixel 2 XL is the highest rated mobile camera by DxO Mark, while OnePlus gives it a solid competition at almost half the price. The Pixel 2 XL’s camera also comes with OIS while the OnePlus 5T still relies on EIS.


In terms of hardware, the Google Pixel 2 XL and the OnePlus 5T come with the same Snapdragon 835 processor and Adreno 540 GPU. The OnePlus 5T, however, comes with 6GB and 8GB RAM options while the Pixel 2 XL gets only 4GB RAM. Storage variants are the same on both phones i.e. 64GB and 128GB options.


Sharing the same hardware configuration, the Pixel 2 XL and OnePlus 5T deliver nearly the same performance. While the Pixel 2 XL comes preloaded with the latest Android 8.0 Oreo, the OnePlus 5T will get Android Oreo in the coming days. Gaming and multimedia experience is lag free on both the devices.

However, when it comes to gaming, the front-facing speakers on the Pixel 2 XL are much better than the bottom firing speakers on the OnePlus 5T. The Pixel 2 XL also comes with a more vibrant display, enhancing the overall experience.

The Google Pixel 2 XL comes with the Active Edge from HTC. It means you can squeeze the edges of your phone to perform certain tasks like launch Google Assistant. OnePlus 5T, on the other hand, comes with OxygenOS, which is a slightly skinned version of Android.

The OxygenOS on OnePlus phones allows you to experience near-Stock Android with enhancements like eye-protection, gaming mode, and lot more. Apart from these features, the OnePlus also has the 3.5mm earphone jack.

The Google Pixel 2 XL is available at a starting price of Rs. 73,000 on Flipkart. The OnePlus 5T is available for purchase on Amazon at a starting price of Rs. 32,999.


Both the Google Pixel 2 XL and the OnePlus 5T fair closely in all the specifications. While the Pixel 2 XL is overhauled in terms of display, cameras, and the stock Android experience, the one plus 5T also delivers excellent performance at half the price of the Pixel 2 XL.
