Design & Display: Which one looks better?

Starting with the design and build first, Nokia 7 Plus comes with a metal unibody design. The frame of Nokia 7 Plus is made from a single block of series 6000 aluminum, and the rear panel has been coated with six layers of ceramic paint that gives it a different texture. Its 7.99mm thickness offers great hold despite its large size which works in its favor.

On the other hand, the OnePlus 5T continues with the premium metal unibody design of the phone which makes it look good and feel great in the hand with the curved rear helping to hold it better. Also, with 7.3mm thickness and 162g, the OnePlus 5T is wider, taller and lighter than the Nokia 7 Plus.

When it comes to display, both the companies opted for full-screen display for the first time. Nokia 7 comes with a 6-inch FHD+ IPS display with 18:9 aspect ratio. On the other hand, the OnePlus 5T also comes with a 6.01-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel with an 18:9 aspect ratio. However, the main difference here is that OnePlus 5T comes with an AMOLED display while Nokia 7 Plus sports a IPS display, which makes the OnePlus 5T winner in design and display segment.

Hardware: Which one is faster?

Nokia 7 Plus comes equipped with a Snapdragon 660 chipset and 4GB of RAM. The octa-core chipset comes with 4 Kryo cores at 2.2 GHz and 4 at 1.8 GHz Kryo 260. It packs an Adreno 512 GPU. While the OnePlus 5T comes with last year’s Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 835 with 6GB or 8GB RAM. The flagship chipset comes with 4 Kryo cores clocked at 2.45 GHz & 4 at 1.9 GHz. So, no doubt it is way better than Snapdragon 660.

When it comes to storage, the 64GB of storage comes inside the 7 Plus with a microSD slot allowing you to expandable it up to 256GB. OnePlus 5T, on the other hand, comes with 64GB or 128GB storage options, but the storage cannot be expanded. So, overall, in term of hardware, OnePlus 5T wins with Snapdragon 835 and more RAM.

Camera: Which one clicks better pictures?

When it comes to the camera, Nokia 7 Plus is promising with its Carl Zeiss optics in dual rear camera as well as the front camera. There’s a 12MP main camera alongside a 13MP telephoto lens to take Bokeh effect photos. Up front, there’s a 16MP selfie camera too.

OnePlus 5T also comes with dual rear camera setup with 16MP and 20MP Sony sensors, both of which boast an equal aperture of f/1.7 for better low-light pictures and 27.22 mm focal length. Upfront, it also sports 16MP selfie snapper. When it comes to comparison, OnePlus 5T’s dual camera seems to be good with its features. However, we can reach the final conclusion once we try our hand-on Nokia 7 Plus’ camera.

Software and UI: Which one is smoother?

Nokia 7 Plus is launched with the latest Android 8.0 Oreo and you will also get stock Android experience as well. Nokia has also signed up for Android One program with Google for all its new phones which guarantees the handsets Google’s next two major updates as well as three years of security updates.

OnePlus 5T, on the other hand, was launched with Android 7.1 Nougat with OnePlus’ Oxygen OS on top. You will get customized UI experience with OnePlus 5T and also, they have just rolled out Android Oreo to 5T, which hints they are a bit slow in terms of OS updates. So, overall in terms of UI and Android updates, Nokia 7 Plus wins here.

Battery: Which offers more juice?

The Nokia 7 Plus promises excellent battery life from its 3,800mAh battery. It can offer two days from a single charge as per the company. While OnePlus 5T comes with a slightly smaller 3,330 mAh battery that can offer at least one day of battery life on a single charge. So, in the battery department, the Nokia 7 Plus defeats the OnePlus 5T.

Coming to the conclusion, in terms of design and display, hardware and camera, OnePlus 5T has better specs and features than Nokia 7 Plus. However, going by the price, Nokia 7 Plus too is a great phone with a premium metal unibody design, Carl Zeiss dual-camera optics and latest Android with faster update promise. So, if you are looking for a premium phone and want to spend around Rs. 25,000, Nokia 7 Plus would be a great option.
